Lily's POV

My mate pulled me into his body,his warmth radiating off of him. His arms slid around my waist, keeping from moving away from him.

I hesitantly looked into his eyes. There was nothing but anger. He glared down at the man in front of us.

Lips apart,teeth bared and eyes dark. The man instantly bowed his head,sensing Xavier's rising anger.

"Forgive me, Alpha. I didn't mean what I said,I was merely joking."he lied.

Xavier's arms tightened around me. I relished in his embrace. It didn't matter what circumstances were in right now.

I only cared about the sparks shooting through me,warm tingling sensations making me snuggle further into my mate's chest.

"If I see you come near my mate again,I will not be so merciful. Know your place and keep your dirty hands off her,runt."Xavier snarled.

With a nod of his head,the man ran into the crowd away from my prying eyes. My mate let me go, grabbing my wrist and dragging up the stairs.

I saw Elisa in the crowd, giving me a sympathetic smile. She knew as well as I did that I was in for it.

Xavier dragged me up the stairs and into my bedroom, slamming the shut. He closed his eyes as I saw his wolf surfacing.

He punched the wall,a large dent made from the impact of his fist.

"What do you think you're doing?!"Xavier growled,turning his attention towards me.

"I was dancing,I didn't know he was going to do that,"I defended myself.

"Don't lie to me,mate."Xavier snarled,the word mate rolling smoothly off of his tongue.

This is how it should be. Xavier calling me his mate,showing me that he cared what I was doing.

Showing me that despite everything,he still saw me as his mate.

Xavier backed me up against the wall,caging me in with both his arms by my head.

I stared into his beautiful eyes. His red irises always seemed to entrance me. They were beautiful and always put me in a dream like trance.

My gaze wandered down to the alpha's lips. I saw him relax and start to lean in,me following suit.

We were so close. Our lips were a millimetre away from meeting each other and becoming one when the alpha stopped.

He stepped away from me,not meeting my eyes. He coughed, and I saw him return to his cold, distant self.

"You are to stay here until the party ends. I will not have anyone seeing what is mine looking like that."he said with disgust.

Before he left the room,I called out to him.

"Why don't you want me?"I asked him.

He turned around to face me. I saw a sad look of despair and loneliness in his eyes.

"A strong alpha has no weakness,but because you are my mate, therefore my weakness,you make me vulnerable. I can't afford to be both weak or vulnerable."he answered.

"I can't afford to be weak in front of my pack,or else it won't just you in danger,but also my pack."

After that,he left and slammed the door shut behind him. I stared at where my mate had stood just mere moments ago.

I felt nothing but disappoinment and hurt. This wasn't fair. Every time I reached out to him,all he caused me was pain and hurt.

I felt nothing but despair. I could have collapsed to the floor and cried, but what good would that do?

Crying would solve none of my problems,it would change nothing.

Instead, I stood up and walked out of the room.  I held my head high as I passed other pack mates.

I had to find Elisa. As I walked down the long winding corridor,I came across an open door.

I saw my mate in there. He stood staring at Clarissa.

"You don't need her, Xavier,you have me. Take me as your mate,I'm not weak like Lily. I am not your weakness,I am your strength. I-"Clarissa began talking but was cut off by Xavier.

"Enough! I am fed up with your failed attempts to become my Luna."Xavier yelled.

I knew it. Clarissa just cared about becoming the Luna of the pack,that was why she kept being all over Xavier.

The alpha was about to speak again when Clarissa pulled him in for a kiss.

My heart stopped.

I saw Xavier push her away,his eyes furious."What the f-"he stopped himself mid sentence when he saw me.
