'When you get blamed for something you didn't do,all you can do is keep your head held high'

Xavier's Pov

"Who did it?"I asked my beta in frustration.

Me and Thomas were now standing in my office, trying to figure out who had been in charge of issuing the attack earlier.

We normally get the odd few rogues attacking but not like we had today. I had never had to deal with that many wolves attacking my pack tomorrow.

Someone had clearly commanded the wolves to attack earlier.

"We don't know yet, alpha. I have talked to the head guard Carlos, and we suspect one of the northern packs was involved,"Thomas said.

I had multiple enemies, but that was because the other alpha's didn't like that I had power over them. My pack was at the top. It always had been and would always be.

Anyone who dared to make an enemy of me was foolish.

I had gone on killing sprees before, and in process, I had scared off the other alphas. I could easily do so again.

"Could it have been Xander?"Thomas queried.

I growled at hearing that traitor's name. He had destroyed my life in many ways,I would never call that vile man my brother.

My brother was dead to me.

He had tried to take Lily away from me but had luckily failed in doing so. All that mattered now was that Lily was marked and was back where she belonged.

With me.

"That bastard would be a fool to think of ever attacking my pack,"I answered Thomas.

"What do know though alpha,is that whoever was in charge of ordering the attack knew that Lily was being intiated into the pack today -"My beta continued.

"We have a traitor in the pack,"I finished for him.

He nodded at me, and I growled in annoyance at the situation.

"Double the guards around the border, and I want you to keep an eye out on anyone who is even a little bit suspicious. Report back to me if you find anything, and tell Carlos to keep an eye out on his warriors."I ordered.

Thomas nodded before leaving my office and shutting the door behind him. With a sigh,I sat down on my office chair and ran my hands through my hair in frustration.

Why were things getting so complicated?

My phone suddenly rang. I picked it up and removed it from my ear when a high-pitched voice squealed on the other end of the line.

"Xavier Matthew Red Blood, how dare you not inform us about what happened!"My mother's voice sounded on the other end of the phone.

I loved my family and would do anything to keep them safe, but my mum especially could get very scary when she was angry.

I laughed at the thought.

Me,the most powerful alpha that had other wolves quaking in fear at hearing my mere  name, was afraid of my mother.

I placed the phone back on my ear before readying myself for my mother's usual rant.

"There was no need to. The problem has been dealt with,"I told her.

"Are you getting smart at me, young boy?Just because you are the alpha, don't forget I am your mother and will not take you disrespecting me!"she yelled.

Great,I had definitely set her off now.

"Mum seriously -"the sound of the phone being snatched from my mother came from the other side of the line.

"Son,you know how your mother gets. She is just worried about you."My dad's voice came from the phone.

I had a complicated relationship with my father, but even though I didn't get on well with him, I respected him a lot. He was an admirable man and had been an amazing alpha.

"I know, father, but things here are fine. As I said, the problem has been dealt with,"I reassured him.

I heard him sigh before speaking up once again. "Very well, Xavier,we will see you soon,"my father spoke, concern in his voice still before he hung up.

Thomas must have told my parents what had happened.

I wasn't very close to my family, but I did care about them a lot. My brother had ruined a lot of things for me in the past and had taken important people in my life away from me.

One of them being my family.
And the second thing he took from me being my mate.

As I stared at the picture on my desk of my old mate,I was reminded of the pain I had to endure when I lost her.

What hurt the most, though, was that my own family had believed I was the monster who had killed her.

Everyone, but me,was blind to what my brother had done that awful day....
