'Don't ever mistake my silence for ignorance, you calmness for acceptance or my kindness for weakness '

Lily's  Pov

Elisa waved her hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance. I blinked, now aware of the moist substance blurring my vision a bit.

"Hey,you zoned out there. Are you okay?"she asked me.

I nodded before a soft silence came between us. I understood why Elisa was worried about me, but I really wanted to be left alone right now.

"I think I'm going to go for a run,"I told her, and she nodded before I ran out of the room.

When I was about to reach the door of the pack house,a hand pulled back. I turned around to see the one person I could have really done without encountering them today.

My father.

He stared down at me before I saw a flash in his eyes. The all too familiar glint I had grown used to seeing flashed in my father's eyes.

He knew it was my birthday today.

Another reason I didn't like to celebrate my birthday was because my grandmother died on this  day.

Today was the anniversary of her death.

My father smirked at me. I knew that he never got over the death of my mother, but my father had always tried to be good to me.

The death of my grandmother had bought back feelings that he had tried to burry after the death of his mate. He needed to blame someone for their deaths.

So he blamed me.

My father had stopped caring about me and had left me to care for myself.  He never told the pack off for treating me badly,in fact,I thi k he enjoyed seeing me suffer.

I braced myself for what I knew would come next.

"You know what day it is,don't you? I bet my mother and my mate would still be here if it wasn't for you! You are a murderer and I know you're still feeling guilty for killing them! So happy birthday,Lily. I hope you enjoy your special day,I wonder what your mate would think of you if he knew what you did!"My father spat at me.

My eyes were blurring, but I was used to this. Every year,my father said the sane words to me.

By now, the whole pack was gathered around us and watching  the scene in front of them.

There was suddenly a loud growl as I  pushed out of the way and behind .you mate.

My father's smug face turned into fear at my mate.  Xavier gripped the collar of my father's shirt and pulled him closer.

"You dare disrespect her! She has done nothing but be kind to you, and you dare insult her?! You dare spit at her!"he yelled, his eyes bright red.

I watched in horror as my mate punched my father, making him land on the floor and clutch his now purple bruised cheek.

Xavier was about to punch him again when I stepped forward and placed a hand on his arm.

"It's fine,Xavier."I whispered,my voice low.

"Flower,he disrespected you. That means he disrespected me, too. That's something I won't take lightly, "Xavier said.

I stated at him pleadingly before he sighed and surrended.

I looked up at the pack as they stared at me intently.  I suddenly became angry. I was so sick of people from my past coming back into my life and putting me down.

This was my pack, and I was already agreeing to help my father protect his pack despite everything he had done to me.

He had the audacity to disrespect me,though I'm in front of my pack.

That wasn't okay.

He thought that I was the same weak girl I used to be,but I was not that girl  anymore.I ducked down to my father's slumped figure and bought my mouth to his ear.

"Don't ever mistake my kindness to you as my weakness. I'm not the same girl you knew before, father. Disrespect me and my mate again, and I will make you watch your pack burn to the ground,"I harshly whispered in his ear.

He said nothing as I walked away from him.

I was sick of  people taking advantage of me, and I was going to do something about it..
