Lily's POV

I looked at myself in the mirror,admiring the white dress that adorned my body.

My blue eyes peered at me through the mirror,making me stare at myself harder. I had come so far since I left my pack.

But I was still trapped.

By my lack of freedom.

By the hurt my mate was causing me.

By what Clarissa was doing.

I just hoped that tonight would change everything. My mate would actually see me.

He wouldn't keep his distance from me, and he let himself be vulnerable around me. He didn't have to act like the alpha he was around me.

I felt like that was one of the reasons why he was avoiding me all of his time. I wondered what his wolf thought about all of this, though.

My hair was curled and cascaded down my back,the dress accentuating my curves. Taking a deep breath,I stepped out of my room to see Elisa standing in front of me.

She was also wearing a long dress with her hair in a long braid. She beamed at me thoughtfully.

"Lily, you look amazing. If that isn't going to impress your mate, I don't know what will."she complimented.

I looked away,unused to being  complimented. A male suddenly walked up to us. He was tall and had hazel eyes.

His dark hair and sharp jawline made him stand out. He strode towards us,his posture confident and proud.

"Thomas, where have you been?!"Elisa jumped towards the male,her arms going around his neck.

"Sweetheart, I haven't been gone that long,"the man chuckled,tilting his head back.

"I know, but I still missed you,"Elisa complained, before her lips on the man's.
I watched them as they reunited.

This clearly was Elisa's mate. Thomas kissed Elisa back,their kiss long and meaningful.

I had to look away,my heart breaking as I did so. I couldn't help but feel jealous. I wanted what they had with my mate.

I wanted to feel his arms around me.

His warm breath on my neck.

His enticing lips on my own.

My wolf growled at the thought, and I turned to see Thomas looking at me questionably.

"Who is this?"he asked,his voice full of confusion but also a threat in his tone.

"Thomas, this is the alpha's mate,Lily,"Elisa responded.

Thomas looked at me,his gaze lingering on me longer than necessary before he turned to Elisa and I saw them speaking through the mind link.

After a while,Thomas nodded. "Nice to meet you, Luna."he bowed his head in acknowledgement.

I nodded,not wanting to correct him. Thomas suddenly narrowed his eyes at Elisa.

"What are you wearing?"he growled,his voice threatening and eyes dark.

Elisa nervously chuckled before grabbing my hand and quickly dragging me away from her growling mate.

"I'll see you later,"she practically shrieks before running with me behind her on the stairs.

"Thomas can be very.... territorial."Elisa explained,noticing my confused look.

That made sense. Elisa's dress wasn't revealing, but it was enough to explain why her mate was angry about what she was wearing.

"Why was Thomas so confused at me being the alpha's mate?"I asked her.

Elisa tensed up before her shoulders relaxed, and she released a nervous breath.

"It's not my place to tell, but I assume you know about the alpha having a previous mate?"she asked, and I nodded.

I had heard the stories, but I never knew they were actually true. It hurt knowing that Xavier had a mate before me.

I wonder if he treated her as he treated me.

We walked into the large hall in the pack house. The once plain large room was now heavily decorated with banners and balloons.

A large speaker played loud music in the corner of the room,the pack dancing happily along to it.

As I walked further into the room,I felt the familiar stare of my mate.
