Chapter 3- Duty over Compassion

"Hi Ms. Zoe we just want to ask para saan po ang meeting na to?" Tanong ng isa kong employee while I was just standing in the middle of the meeting room.

"I just want to tell everyone that in this paper is the list of names that needs to be terminated immediately." Sagot ko at itinaas ko ang papel para makita nilang lahat, as expected they are all shocked, their eyes widened and whispers spread into the room.

"What? Magtatanggal kayo ng employees?" Gulat na tanong ng empleyado ko. "Oo, and I am sorry to the ones who will be fired today, pagkatapos ng meeting na to lahat lahat ng pangalang binanggit ko ay kailangang linisin ninyo ang table nyo and get out of this company." Sagot ko and they all started to feel nervous, some of them felt downhearted.

"Pero ma'am bakit nyo kailangan magtanggal ng mga employees?" Tanong ng isang empleyado. "Karamihan sainyo ay ang bababa ng performances that made hr places last in all departments, hindi ba nakakahiya yun sainyo?" Tanong ko.

"Pero ma'am we need the jo-"

"I know you need the job but you first need to become a better employee, hindi na kayo umayos! Karamihan sainyo hindi sineseryoso ang trabaho para lang sa salary, yung mga inuutos kong gawin sainyo hindi nyo nga magawa ng maayos eh kadalasan rejected pa, isa isa kong babangitin ang mga pangalan na tatangalin ko ngayon, kaya maghanda na kayong umalis."

"Unang una sa lahat, Sabrina Ocampo you're fired! Adrian Reyes, Diego De Castro, Rylee Soledad, Justin Benedicto, Julia Buendia, Serena Chengco, Marvin Pamintuan, and last, Naomi Serrano." Pagkatapos kong isa isahin ang mga pangalan, the name I mentioned went all silent and the rest just felt relieved.

"Everyone get out, tapos na ang meeting and I will give you all your last pay, after this I don't want to see your faces anymore." I said and they have no choice but to get out, but Naomi remained inside.

"Naomi ano pang hinihintay mo? Get out of the room." Pagpapaalis ko, I didn't noticed that she cried when she wiped her tears. "Zoe alam mo naman yung sitwasyon ng buhay ko diba?" Umiiyak na tanong nya, I cannot help but to feel sympathy for her but I need to do this, kung ako lang ang nasusunod, I will not fire her.

"Oo alam ko but once I decide you have to follow it, not because ikaw ang kasama ko palaging kumain tuwing lunch break means we're friends, I'm sorry Naomi but I have to do this, just find another job." Sagot ko while I'm trying to let her know that we are not friends at all.

"Zoe hindi yun ganun kadali! Tatlong taon na kong nag tatrabaho dito sa kompanya nyo tapos bigla nyo nalang akong tatangalin? May pinagsamahan naman tayo kahit papano diba?" Tanong nya.

"Naomi wala na tayo sa school o kung ano, kapag trabaho trabaho! Yun lang yon hindi na importante kung may pinagsamahan man tayo o wala! Kung terminated just accept it! Ganun talaga ang buhay Naomi, I'll be waiting for you outside, kukuhain ko lang ang huling sweldo ninyo." Asik ko and I left her crying inside, I came out of the meeting rooms and the terminated once were downhearted, some are crying, they didn't notice me na nakalabas na ng meeting room so I heard what they're saying about me.

"Para namang kasalanan natin na shunga si mam Zoe, eh sya tong laging napapagalitan ng tatay nya kasi hindi nya nahahandle ng maayos ang buong hr tapos tayo pa tong tinanggal, sya nga tong natatawag na disappointment, contract na nga lang yung pipirmahan yung rejected pa." Sambit ni Sabrina habang inaalis nila ang mga gamit nila sa table, they all started to backstab me and I remained unnoticed hanggang sa mapansin nila na nandito pala ako sa likod nila hearing all those backlash.

"M-mam Zoe kanina ka po ba dyan?" Tanong ni Sabrina na sobrang kinabahan nang makita ako. "Sinisisi nyo ba ko kung bakit napakababa ng performances nyo? Remember lahat kayo ako lang ang nagtrain sainyo, I did my best to train you and ends up getting terminated?" I said and chuckled, they just became so speechless.
