18: Promise?

Wukong's POV

"Uhm, Macaque!" I said, earning everyone's attention

"Hm?" He question, looking at me with his beautiful purple eyes

"Would you maybe you know---want to go on a date..?"

"Or just a hangout..?"

"Yeah... Uhm," He started, scratching the back of his head "How about we all go on a hangout? Like say, a picnic?"

"Hey, that sounds like fun!" Mei chimed it

"Yeah it does, but you know I was thinking something for just the two of us" I inaduibly objected, whispering the last part

"What was that?"

"Nothing, yeah that sounds cool" I smiled, anytime is a good time, as long as I'm with him "And one more thing..!" I asked, holding both his hands in mine "I was wondering maybe I could call you Mango, like old times..?"

Macaque's POV

"Like old times" Those words rung in my head. Those old times meant everything to me, they were my everything, so why do I hate the sound of it..? Why does it just not feel right

"Macaque?" Wukong questioned, intertwining his tail with mine

I cuped his face into my hands and answered "I'd love that" before ruffling his hair, "How about we go to that flower field? The one near your mountain?"

"Sure!"

"YEAH, PICNIC!" Mk singed out, causing his mentor to giggle

"Hey, I'll be right back, okay?"

"Mhm!" He smiled

"You insignificant being.!" She roared, the cold air rushed past me, almost as if tiny needles were piercing my skin "I've given you chance after chance and you've-"

"There's a flower field. Near the King's mountain. They'll all be there, tomorrow you prize will be waiting, Lady Bone Demon"

"Is that so." She giggled "Well done, my champion. Maybe you're still of use to me after all"

"Send a ship and I'll escort them to you."

"Very well" She said, eyeing me with cold blue eyes, staring intencly into my soul "Off you go..."

Wukong's Pov

"Alright! Macaque's been gone for awhile so I used this time to get him some roses and chocolate strawberries! He'll like strawberries right? But does he like chocolate? Who am I kidding everyone loves chocolate, right? Right..?" I said, looking at my subjects who sat in a circle, contently watching me rant, each shrugged and chirped before scampering away

"Psh, you guys are no help" I groaned, plopping down on a patch of grass, waiting for Macaque's arrival

"Oh Wukong" He cooed, sitting to my side

"Macaque!" I chirped, shoving the roses and strawberries towards him "These are for you"

"Really?"

"Mhm!" I exclaimed, wagging my tail hoping he'd like it", which resulted in a few giggles, that turned into chuckles, then full on laughter

"What?"

"You're like a child" He forced, his laughter almost stopping him from speaking

"Tsk, whatever" I said, slumping down to the ground, avoiding his gaze, but still pushing the gift toward him, making eye contact when he didn't take it

"Macaque..?" I mutter, putting my hand on his shoulder, holding him close to me when I see his saddened expression

"I'm sorry..."

"For what?" I chuckled, rubbing his head and giving him soft kisses

"For what, Macaque?"

"Nothing," He started, wiping the water the threatened to turn to tears from his eyes, and gazing at me "I have a question"

"What is it?"

"What if I did something, would you still---care about me? Like, at all..?"

"Macaque..." I said, holding his arms "I would stand between the heavens and earth for you, I will forever to anything in my power to stay by your side forever, I really don't care if you do 'something', I'll always love you, okay?"

"You promise?" He chuckled, sniffling and hugging me tight, purring everytime I stroked his head

"I promise, forever and always."
