Everyone here has a special power.

Either they can shapeshift, read minds, or maybe even teleport!

Everyone had something special,

Something that could change the world!

And me?

I was stuck with the worst power ever.

-

I took a deep breath as I entered my new school.

Just walking to my locker was insane.

Some kids were flying and talking, others were teleporting around, and one kid even lifted up his friend with his telekinesis.

My jaw dropped and then I felt someone run into me.

"Hey! Don't stop in the middle of the halls jerk!" They shouted and I quickly stumbled out of the way, apologizing.

I made it to my locker and sighed.

"What a bitch."

"Hey! Don't say that about him, he didn't mean it." I said, defending him.

"Uh- yeah, he did."

The gnome jumped off my shoulder and helped me unlock my locker.

"You need to stand up for yourself! You can't just get stepped on like that!!" They said.

I shrugged and opened my locker, putting my spare hoodie and books in it.

"It's fine, it's whatever. Not like I can stand up for myself."

"But I can!"

I giggled at my little gnome.

"Sure, you can." I said sarcastically.

You see, my power, is to talk to gnomes.

Gnomes are the little beings that are with everyone.

They're normally invisible and are the little voices in your head that either talk you down or help you.

Gnomes are like people in the sense that there are good and bad ones.

Most gnomes are nice and get distracted very easily.

They get fascinated with glitter and genuinely love to help people.

My gnome is named Kade.

They are very chaotic.

I've met other people's gnomes and they normally are shocked that I can see them, since everyone else can't.

And that's my power.

Just talking to gnomes.

Which isn't very interesting in my opinion.

I sighed as I walked into class.

I sat down and looked over at a guy who was covered in scars.

He had a little gnome in his pencil case, seeming mesmerized by the pencils and pens.

I giggled as the gnome tried to pick up the pencil but was obviously struggling.

"What?" The guy covered in scars asked me.

"H-huh? Oh, nothing." I lied, looking away, embarrassed.

Kade laughed.

I shot Kade a look and he shrugged.

He slid down my arm and sat on my desk, watching as the other gnome tried to take out the pencil.

"You're gonna get crushed that way." Kade said to the other gnome.

"No! I can do it!" They said and eventually the guy covered in scars picked up his pencil, his little gnome hanging on to it.

"Gah! Careful!" I said, helping out the little gnome.

The guy raised an eyebrow.

"Careful of what?" He asked.

"U-uh- "

I felt the heat rise to my cheeks and I turned away.

I always forget how other people can't see the gnomes like I can.

"Nothing." I whispered.

"You okay?" He asked.

I nodded.

He shrugged, "Alright."

We sat in silence before he looked over at me again.

"Let's start over." He said, stretching out his hand, "I'm Scar."

I looked at him before shaking his hand.

"Grian."
