Grian's Perspective-
Training.
I was dreading this day for weeks.
How am I supposed to train with gnomes?!
I don't even know where they come from!!
I took a deep breath as I entered the gym.
"You got this." Kade said, sitting on my shoulder.
I nodded, "Yeah, you're right."
The teacher, Coach Hanlon, smiled at me.
"Grian, correct?" He asked.
I nodded.
"You're teaming up with Scar. May I ask your superhero name?"
"U-uh..."
I trailed off.Superhero name? I never knew I had to have one of those!!
"Why don't you spin this wheel and it'll determine your name? You can always change it later, but we need it for training today."
I nodded and walked up to the colorful wheel that Coach Hanlon had on a foldup table.
I spun in, holding my breath, and soon it stopped.
I stared at it in disbelief, listening as Kade burst out in laughter.
"Well? What'd you get?" Coach Hanlon asked.
He walked up to me and went,
"Ohh. I forgot that was on there."
He then pat my back.
"Welp, that's your name for now. You can always change it."
He scribbled something down and then pointed to the guy covered in scars.
"Well, Cute Guy, your teammate for training is Scar, or his superhero name, Hot Guy."
I flushed red from embarrassment, hating how my superhero name had to be 'Cute Guy'.
I walked over to Scar, and he smiled at me.
"Hi! I'm Scar, or Hot Guy, and my superpower is to change the damage that my arrows cause. What's yours?"
"I- uh- I can..." I trailed off and Kade sighed.
"Just tell him what your power is!" They shouted and I nodded.
I looked up at Scar, who smiled.
"I uh...can talk to gnomes." I muttered.
Scar blinked.
"You can what?"
"Talk to gnomes. The little guys that can read your thoughts."
"...huh."
I smiled nervously and Kade looked offended.
"HEY! WE'RE GREAT!!" They shouted and I tried my best not to laugh.
"Yeah, uh...that's my power."Scar was about to say something else when Coach Hanlon clapped his hands to grab everyone's attention.
"Alright!!! Everyone, you're going to show your partner your power and try and give them tips on what they could work on! Right now, we're just getting to know each other. Okay? Okay. Great! Let's begin!"
Coach Hanlon clapped his hands again and the gym filled with chatter.
I watched as Scar chatted with another guy, who was flying upside down.
I watched as the guy flew and I started to feel ashamed of myself for not having a better power.
Kade noticed this and they hugged my cheek.
"Your power is great." They said and I smiled softly.
Coach Hanlon then walked over to us and told us to get on task.
Scar turned to me.
"Er- wanna show me your power?"
"How?" I asked.
Gnomes were invisible to everyone who didn't have the power to talk to them.
"Umm...I'm not sure." Scar said, he turned around and saw Coach Hanlon talking with some other kids.
We decided not to bother the teacher and to figure it out ourselves.
"Okay, well..." I had Kade stand on my hand, and I just made up a very awkward conversation.
Scar watched and his eyes widened as he looked shocked.
I stopped talking to Kade and looked up at Scar.
"What?" I asked.
"How do you do that?" He asked.
"Er- do what?"
"Speak that different language."
"What?"
"You- you just held out your hand and started speaking in a different language. How- how did you do that?"
I looked down at Kade and they said,
"Ohhh, yeah. Didn't you know that us gnomes speak a different language?"
"Huh?!"
