Penda POV
I return to the palace I call home.
To celebrate the Day of the Rose, the Day of Mothers.
I spend this special day, at my mother's grave, usually alone. In a simple gown, I walk through the graveyard of the royal family. With a basket in hand full of roses and food, I find her tombstone.
Cleaning it, I scrub the dirt and age away. Sitting before it I speak softly to the stone, "It's been a while since I've returned. I saw you before I left, but it feels like a million years since I've spoken with you."
I smile as I light the sweet-scented candle, placing the roses carefully before me.
"I've made a lot of friends, Stella, Bloom, Flora, Tecna and Musa. Their personalities are bright and their hearts are warm. Love is already flowing within the school."
Taking out a sandwich, I smile, "I think I might be finding love too."
Nibbling on the sandwich, the wind blows gently against my skin.
"I've always dreamed of spending this day with you. Father used to tell me, that you would watch over me, under the light of the stars. It was the only thing that would help me sleep at night, or soothe me when I had nightmares."
It feels like she's here, sitting beside me. As the night starts to rise, I remain in my spot, not caring about the thick cold settling in. I fail to notice the simple tears falling from my eyes, how warm they feel against my cold cheek.
How can I miss someone I've never met, someone I've only seen in thought or pictures?
I fail to notice I've fallen asleep against her stone, or that I was carried to my room.
The next morning, I'm alone with puffy eyes and a small bag as I head back to school. Slipping into my room, in the early morning, I settle in. Saddened, I step out to get some fresh air.
Only to bump into Musa.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
Looking up at her I give her a small smile, "I just...spent the day with my Mom. I miss her."
She wraps an arm around me, "She's..."
I nod, "When I was born... I spent the Day of Roses at her grave, taking with her. It hurt a bit more than it usually does."
She gives me a small smile, "I understand, come on, let's get some food. That always cheers me up. Walking by her side we head to the cafeteria, meeting up with the girls halfway, I rub my eyes.
Bloom and Stella get into a flight but I'm too out of it to pay attention or care, as rude as that sounds.
Slipping into my room, I grab my violin case. Walking into the woods, I return to the clearing where I found the mysterious specialist. As the sun shines down on me, I unpack the musical instrument and start to play a simple melody.
Allowing my emotions to fuel the melody, I smile and relax. As my thoughts are loose and free. As the music fills the air, my magic fills through the space. I hear every heartbeat, every ounce of love and emotion.
And in the midst of that, I feel a broken heart, a familiar one, "Musa?"
Her emotions are on high, she feels scrambled, and she's in danger.
Snapping my fingers, my violin fades away.
"Magic Winx!"
Transforming, I take the sky as I follow the feeling, follow the shattering heart of Musa. Seeing her run through the city of Magix, I find her stuck in a dead end. Standing before her, I hold out my hand, "Loving Thunder!"
White lightning shoots from my hands, zapping the lower-level witches. The Trix are pushed back but I stand tall. Backup isn't too far away as a Red Fountain ship lands behind us.
I rush to Musa's side, placing my hand on her cheek, I rub it gently, "Everything is going to be ok now."
Riven steps in from the crowd, ready to fight Brandon. The blond fights with Riven, and the Trix's anger spreads throughout the environment causing snow, thunder, and dark skies.
Anger fills me as Icy shoots Ice blades, I frown.
"Rose of Rain!"
White rain falls from the sky making Darcy's illusions disappear, standing in front of Musa, I smile.
As the witches surround Prince Sky, I deal with them. Shooting a thick blast of magic, I push them back. A thick cold fills the air making me turn my attention to Icy.
"You really don't know how to chill huh?"
Shooting her down, I shout out, "Stella! I could use a little sun!"
Melting Icy's ice, I shoot her as she's distracted by a shining light of flames and fire. The three are knocked out, making the witches run for the hills.
Returning to the ship, I sit next to Musa. Allowing her to lean on my shoulder she smiles softly. Her heart is still broken but she's healing.
A new day comes, and it's our first time being introduced to the simulation room. Looking around during our class, this will be our midterm, our final exam. Taking a look at the control room, I stand by Muse's side as we get to see how everything functions.
Deciding on reversing a major spell cast by witches, the midterm takes place tomorrow. Excited, I spend the night studying with her as we plan for our respective simulations. Bloom goes first, but things don't work out the way we think.
The system turns against her, tampered with from the start. The professor is able to get her out and into safety, but we're relieved at her safety. Leading the exams to be postponed. A great way to start the day but I can't help but be worried.
