Chapter 29

Penda POV

In Faragonda's office, we debate whether or not we open the book. She explains the dangers, explaining how we will lose our powers if we fail. Needing to all agree, I feel hesitant at first, but I've made it this far. I've felt my low, it can't get worse than that.

Today is the Challange of Granore, asking us to represent Alfea, and we agreed. Arriving at the Graynar, the Ancestral Spirits of Nature appears, welcoming us.

In search of the Rainbow Mantle, we split up. In the forest, with Stella, Musa, and Tecna the three chat away. A bit further behind, I stop, silent.

Hearing rustling in the leaves, I slip away, thoughts loud and dark. Walking into the clearing, I see a brown horse. A simple creature, but pretty nonetheless. Its heart is warm and welcoming, making me feel calm.

"Hey there."

Walking over to the stallion, I hold out my hand, allowing me to pet it I smile.

"You're beautiful."

The horse is calm as it nuzzles up against me, "I feel so broken, unsure, maybe staying with you will help give me clarity."

Walking with it, I gasped at the sight of Tecna and the girls. I place my hand on my chest, "You scared me!"

Stella steps forward, "Where did you go!? You had us worried sick."

I smile softly, "Sorry..."

The horse brushes up against me, making Stella cross her arms, "Well that's not the rainbow creature."

She points and the rainbow antlered dear, "That's the rainbow creature."

Feeling a familiar darkness the deer runs off, and looking up the Trix appears. They try to attack the fairies, transforming, we face the Trix.

Knocking us back Stella lands on the horse, pushing it back. I panic, "No!"

Flying over the edge, I spread my magic around the stallion, flying it safely on the flat ground. Bloom, Layla, and Flora face them off, sheiling the horse. I join the three in trying to bind and defeat the Trix.

Getting shot down by dark blades of icicles, I land on the ground. Looking to my side I see the others on their knees, angered and defeated. Standing, I glare at the Trix, Layla, and Bloom rise.

"You won't hurt them."

Then a blur of colors runs past us, the horse transforms, once brown and simple now white with glowing hair. Feeling stronger it shares its abilities, allowing its energy to drive the Trix away.

Walking over to me, he calms, allowing me to pet him. Nuzzling up against me, I smile. Returning to the Ancestral Fairy, she sees us as worthy. Gaining nature's key, I feel more powerful, more safe, we begin to head back to Alfea.

"Fairy of Love..."

Turning, I face the Ancestral Fairy and the rainbow creature, she speaks softly, words full of wisdom.

"You are not broken, nor are you lost, your path will get brighter as the sacrifices you faced will be rewarded and never forgotten."

Looking at her she fades away, allowing me to think.

Back at Alfea, we decide to open the book. Using Nature's key, the book opens as the quest for Sirenix begins. Having to complete the quest in 1 Lunar cycle or our powers will be gone forever.

To gain these powers, we must find the gems of Self-Confidence, Empathy, and Courage, hidden in the oceans of the magic dimension.

Layla expresses how our Believix powers don't work underwater, feeling a burst of magic followed by a bright light, we are gifted with a Sirenix box. Our guardian resides within it, allowing us to call her for help.

Feeling powerful, the book explains how our guardian has granted us Harmonix. Allowing us to use our powers freely in the ocean.  As our boxes fade away, we get the first riddle.

"With every twist and turn the deeper you until the shimmer shells sing with the ocean's voice."

Layla's heard of it, knowing of the Shimmering Shells at a cove on her home planet. But it's been nothing a myth. Leaving for Andros with Bloom, Stella, and Layla, the book explains how we will be tested, but what's new?

Layla's Father sends us a Yaht, and with a quick wardrobe change, courtesy of Stella, we are ready to go. Nabu is waiting for us, ready to navigate us to Andros.

Making it there, Nabu wishes us luck. Transforming into Harmonix. Laya kisses Nabu's cheek before diving into the water. Swimming through the ocean, we meet a small sea creature. Selkies are the guards of the portals connecting to all oceans of all worlds in the magic dimension. Lemmy and Layla bond, much like she would with her pixie.

Lemmy leads us to the Labronth of the Abyess, with the Selkie helping us through the twists and turns we are in an oil-filled room.

The Selkie hears the voice of the ocean, in finding it, the music grows louder. The pollution suffocates us like smoke, surrounded by darkness, I see myself.

A sad look on my clone's expression, "You are nothing, how are you supposed to be the fairy of love with no certainty, no memories of what creates you? If only Mom could see us now."

Tears fall on my face, hearing Layla's voice, I ignore it.

Walking over to the clone, I hold her, "That's not true, none of it is. We'll be ok."

Breaking free from the nightmare, Layla awakens Lemmy. Cleaning the shells, they shimmer and shine once more. Grabbing the stone, the light gives us another riddle, and we return to Alfea to find the gem of self-confidence.

Stella has the idea to summon the guardian of Sirenix to give us the answer, but it tells us no. She gives us a hint that it might be in the oceans of Solaria.

While Tecna, Musa, and Bloom head to Earth to help the oceans the rest of us move to Solaria with Brandon and Nabu.

On her kingdom waters, we transform into Harmonix, diving into the ocean filled with bright colors and even brighter waters, Stella bonds with the Selkie named Illiris.

Into the deepest depths of the oceans, it shines as bright as the sun dims due to the pollution in the space. A silver shield reflects the light that comes from above.

Then a monstrous jellyfish begins to attack us, zapping Flora it turns her to stone.

Gasping, it continues to go after us, we dodge its zap the best we can. Stella cornered uses the shield to protect me. Stella lures the jellyfish monster, with the shields in hand, as it blasts her the shield reflects, bouncing back at the Jellyfish.

The same shield, taking the jem of self-confidence attached to it, reverses the spell allowing Flora to come alive. Our Boxes form, as the jem finds its place.

Two more to go, but that's a worry for tomorrow.

The annual mixer for Red Falcon and Alfea is tonight. Sitting with Noa, he holds my hand, as our space is filled with laughter and soft-spoken words. Seeing Layla and Nabu dancing from afar I smile, happy to see the two united.

Tecna joins us, playing a melody, Musa recognizes it, knows the lyrics. Leading Layla, Musa, and Stella to Melody the next day to get the next riddle.

Unlocking the next riddle, the three return. Leading us to Zenith, Tecna's home planet, to gain the gem of Empath. Our journey doesn't stop there, as Flora, Stella, and Musa go to Linphea to find the next riddle, unlocking the final one.
