Pendo POV
Many Year LaterThe Queens of Upendo have a history of dying at birth. It's known to be a part of the royal bloodline, to pass the title of the Fairy of Love to the next generation, to the future Queen.
So when I found out I was pregnant with Amani, I was scared. Scared she wouldn't have me in her life, that I couldn't watch her grow. Every day I pour love into her, praying to the stars to spare my life.
And she has a perfect birth.
This caused the nobles to whisper, wondering if she would truly be the future queen. So when she devoted her fairy powers and became the Fairy of Aura, they knew that the stars had decided she wouldn't be.
Then I got pregnant again, a complicated pregnancy. Weak, energy slipping away, we knew what it meant. It had happened to every Queen before me. It had happened to my Mother. Nonetheless, I poured every ounce of love into my belly as it grew. And so did Amani.
So when the day of birth came, I cried, holding Noa's hand as the pain filled my body. A beautiful baby girl was born, Safia, but what once was thought to be a single baby pregnancy turned into two. My son, Malakai, the Prince of Upendo.
Twins are a rarity in itself, but in my eyes, the stars answered my prayers. Allowing me to live, allowing me to watch my children grow.
The nobles praised Malakai as the one who saved the Queen, current and next, so when he rose to have a talent for the sword they weren't surprised. And as bits of magic shine in Safia, it's clear that her path is set. But today isn't about them, it's about my beautiful Amani.
Today is her first day at Alfea, and I'll be taking her. Watching her rush down in her clothes, dressed in purples and light blues I tear up.
"Mom, are you ok!"
I nod, "Yes, I'm just so happy. My baby girl is growing so fast."
She smiles, "Mom, no need to worry."
I wipe my tears, "Far from worried, I'm proud. I can't wait to see who you become."
Holding her close Noa enters the room, "Papa!"
Hugging his daughter he ruffles her hair, making her frustrated. She is a spitting image of him, causing my heart to swell.
"Amami! Amami!"
Safia and Malakai run to her, making her bend down to scoop them up.
"Hey, you too!"
Malakai smiles, "Are you excited? Are you excited!"
Amami laughs, "Yes."
"We're going to miss you! Who are we going to place with?!"
She thinks for a moment, "Well Uncle Sefu looks bored all the time."
The twins look at each other before kissing her cheek. Running off together, holding Amami's hand I smile, "Are you ready?"
She nods, hugging Noa one more time our fingers join as we jump through the portal. Walking her to the gates I place my hands on her shoulder.
"Now remember, you can always come back home if you need a break. Listen to your teachers and make some friends. Ok?"
She nods, "Ok."
Holding her close I whisper, "I love you Amami, I'm so proud of you."
Feeling her heart leap she rubs her eyes, "I love you too Mom."
Running in to sign in I watch her go. So much has changed in Magix, from the girl's dormitory in Red Falcon. The Sorcerer's school, Zathym, opened up creating a new path for magically gifted students.
A familiar voice rings, "Remember our first day?"
I look at Stella and smile, "Oh I remember. It was so long ago."
Bloom smiles, "I still can't believe I thought I could fool Griselda."
We laugh, making Musa and Tecna step forward, "Oh those were the times."
Layla and Flora walk to my side, "They'll do just fine here."
Looking at our kid's meet-up, I smile, "Yeah, they will."
Turning I smile, "Now let's go to the city, it's been a while since we've been together like this. Stella, if you could do the honors."
Snapping her fingers we are dressed in designer clothes created by her, dressed to impress we join hands, before fading away.
This is the story, to show you, the true heart of a fairy.
