Prologue

PROLOGUE

Sometimes, thoughts rush through my mind like the sudden whirl of passing car wheels as I stare blankly, wondering about the relevance of resilience in things we're not used to doing.

I often ask myself where my feet will take me in the future, but knowing my own personality and capabilities, I'm quite certain I won't have a hard time finding my way.

They say growth comes in many forms; sometimes in the challenges we overcome, other times in the way we learn to stand tall despite uncertainty.

There are moments when, despite being surrounded by countless people and the ease of conversation flowing like a gentle stream, I still feel like a puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit.

The way I laugh and share corny jokes, the way I navigate right from wrong, and the way I interact with different people and perspectives, all of it shapes the growth I'm willing to embrace.

However, when it comes to having a lover at this age? Well, isa iyon sa mga bagay na masasabi kong hindi ako handa at sigurado.

They say childhood is fleeting, slipping through our fingers before we even realize it's gone. And somewhere along the way, the way we see the world changes, whether we want it to or not.

I opened my eyes to reality the moment I saw my parents slowly wear each other out. Still, I believe they truly loved each other-after all, that love brought me into this world. I was made from love, but in the end, love didn't last. And eventually, my perspective shifted. And that's okay.

Because of that, I can't help but miss the days when I was just a carefree child, fluttering through life like a butterfly. But now, standing at the edge of my future, I know I can't take everything as lightly as a half-filled bucket.

Pero bilang isang responsable at masipag na estudyante na marunong magbalanse ng buhay, aba, siyempre magpo-phone pa rin ako, magle-level up sa laro ko habang nasa loob ng maingay na silid aralan.

"Everyone, settle down! May quiz tayo sa DISS after break!"

We all immediately looked at Rhyolite, our Class President, when she entered our classroom. Her announcement quickly brought multiple complaints and sneers from my classmates within the whole room. Kahit ako na abala at nananahimik sa paglalaro ng Genshin sa phone ay tumingin sa kanya.

Buong sistema mo talaga ay magigising kapag inanunsyong may quiz. At ibang klase, Disciplines and Ideas in the Social Sciences pa talaga. Bukod sa strikto ang subject teacher namin doon ay hirap kaming intindihin ang mga lessons dahil mabilis siyang magturo. Another challenge we all face is his quiz style; it's either all identification questions or a barrage of modified true or false. It's like a test within a test.

Edi sana sinaksak mo na lang kami, sir.

"Fifteen minutes na lang! Ano ba 'yan, huwag na nga magmeryenda!"

"Pare, magreview ka! Bubuhatin mo kami ngayon!"

"Psst! Tabi-tabi tayo, walang iwanan!"

"Push na, push na! Wiped out na, oh!"

I quickly grabbed my binder and started reviewing my notes for DISS. This is what I dread the most, kind of annoying honestly. I feel a bit pressured with only fifteen minutes left in time. And because of that, my mind just couldn't seem to digest what I was currently reading.

Bukod doon, hindi ko rin maintindihan ang sulat ko.
