I looked over at Mo snuggled underneath Faith's jacket as she laid next to him with a protective arm around him. A small smile crawled on my face. I turned on my back. I couldn't sleep. My mind just kept showing me images and memories of my father. I was desperate to find him. Even though I didn't trust Fyren Graves one bit, I had to play his game to even have the slightest chance of saving my dad. I laid like this on the soft, grassy floor until the sun rose. I woke up Faith and Mo woke up by my voice. We took our gear and went on our way. We soon found out Mo wasn't really fast, because of his little legs, so we decided it was best to carry him. He was as light as a balloon so we didn't have any extra weight. Things went like this for the next few days. We'd walk for a while, find an open spot to set camp on and try to sleep. When we finally reached Beggar's Hole I almost screamed with joy. We walked into the little town. People there were very friendly and they all adored Mo. It didn't take long before an elf named Torin offered us a spot in his inn for the night. He had long, white hair and brown eyes. We told him we were very grateful and told us about our journey. When we wanted to pay for the food and the room, Torin told us it was free. I smiled at him as a thank you. I really was grateful
A few moments later Torin knocked on our room door.
"Room service!" He said.
"Come in!" Faith said as she tied her hair into a tight ponytail. Torin came in with two deep plates filled with soup and a little bowl with soup. He gave us the big ones and Mo the small one. Mo looked at Torin and then at the bowl.
"The best soup ya can find throughout Mithia!" Torin said.
"Mogwai!" He exclaimed and started slurping up his soup.
"Thank you, Torin. Really." I said. Torin smiled.
"No biggie." He said. Just as he was about to leave, he turned back to us.
"Y'know, the forest you gals were talking 'bout is called the Dark Wood. It's pretty dangerous if ya asked me. Maybe y'all want a guide?" He said. Faith looked at me.
"Sure, if that would be a smart thing to do." She said. Torin smiled.
"It sure is smart. I'll pick you ladies up at dawn." He smiled again and shut the door behind him. I looked at Faith happily.
"We got a guide!" I excitedly said. Faith squealed.
"And a handsome one too!" She exclaimed. Suddenly a wave of disappointment and sadness washed over me. I looked away.
"Yeah, sure." I said. I felt Faith's hand on my knee.
"Ruby? Are you okay?" She asked. I looked at her and fakely smiled.
"I'm okay, Faith. Don't worry about me." I replied. She couldn't know my secret.|Faith and I had been friends since we were 5, 6 years old. But when I was 13, I started feeling differently about her. I would get overjoyed when she was around.. I didn't know how to act around her. I got jealous every time she was with some guy or when she would talk about a hot guy. I didn't realise how I felt until I was 16. Then I realised that I was in love with her. When I wanted to tell her, I found her kissing with this guy from our class. I felt heart broken and didn't talk to her for a couple of weeks. When I did, she told me that he was just some fling. I told her I didn't really care and that she should do what she wanted. Only if she knew.|
"Ruuuby? You okay?" She asked. I looked up.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's just go to bed. We have a long day ahead of us." I said as I turned off the light.
