We kept running for about 1,5 hours. Then, the ground stopped shaking. We stopped. I felt the soft marshmallowy skin from Bo pressing against my neck. I looked over to the others. Mo was sitting on Faith's neck. I turned around towards the direction we came from. I saw big figures laying on the ground, motionless. I turned back around.
"What the fuck happened?" I said, trying to catch my breath.
"I think we entered the territory of the forest giants. When our scent reached them, they got angry and chased us away. Non-animal creatures and elves are not allowed there." Torin explained.
"You do know a lot!" Faith said, smiling widely. Torin quickly smiled back. I scraped my throat. They both looked at me.
"What now? The sun is rising. It might be wise to go." I said.
"I agree. We can never leave too early." Faith said, I smiled and I think I even blushed a little. Torin nodded and cracked his back.
" 'Aight, let's go then." He said. I petted Bo on his head as we left the scene.
A few hours passed by and the sky started darkening. Our surroundings became cold and bleak. All the plants around us died and made place for rocks. The trees looked dead and dull. The ground went from soft, green grass to volcanic rocks with streams of lava running through the creeks of the ground. And somehow, there was still a cold breeze surrounding the area. I gulped as I looked at the new land we entered.
"This place gives me the creeps." Faith suddenly said. I turned around and smiled at her.
"No worries, Faith. We're here!" I said. Stupid! You should've said 'I'! Faith weakly and quickly smiled back at me.
"Luckily." She said. I turned back and we went on with our journey.
Eventually, I pulled out the hint.
"It's says something about mud, but all ground we passed is dry as fuck!" I said. I was really annoyed. I looked at Torin.
"Are you SURE you led us to the right spot?" I asked. He nodded.
"1000%, Ruby. I cannot think where else I should've taken you lot to." He replied.
"And besides, I know where we need to go. It's the Ogre's swamp. But that place is always crawling with ogres. We gotta be careful when we get there." He added. I nodded and prayed that we would reach the swamp soon. I heard Faith gulp behind me.
"Uhm you guys?" She said.
"What's wrong?" I asked. I heard Faith's breath shiver, so I turned around. There, a little in the distance, I saw a big creature. Even though he was quite far away, I could clearly see him. And he could see us. I looked straight into its pitch black eyes. My eyes widened.
"Uhh, Torin? We have an issue!" Faith said. I was frozen, forced to look at it.
"Ruby! Look away!" Torin yelled. He pulled my arm and I turned around and looked straight into his face. He smiled, but I quickly pulled my arm out of his grip. Suddenly, the ogre roared. I immediately turned back around to see the creature charging towards us. I pulled Faith along as we started running for dear life.
