We were still staring at the castle. I was scared to go in, but I knew I had to. Graves also knew I was scared. He took advantage of that. But I wasn’t going to let him get to me. I couldn’t let him get to me. I took a deep breath.
“Ready?” I asked, clearly not ready myself. I felt Torin’s gaze turn to me, as I kept staring at the white building in front of me.
“Ready.” He said. I took one last, deep breath and I walked toward the castle. Torin quickly followed. I had this gnawing feeling of nearing death. This feeling grew stronger the closer I got to the castle. Eventually, I was standing right in front of the doors, with Torin standing next to me. My breath was cold, even though it was end of spring. A chilly wind came from the gap underneath the door. I felt my arm rise up and move towards the door handle. I grabbed it, but didn’t open the door yet. I stared at my hand that was laying on the rusty handle. I forced myself to push open the door. It opened very slowly with one of those creepy creaks. It wasn’t dark. The sunlight from outside shined through the windows, making the castle less creepy. I slowly set one foot into the hall. Then another. Torin followed me inside.
“It doesn’t look that eerie.” He said.
“Well, it sure feels that way.” I replied. We continued walking. The light from outside felt cold inside the castle. We walked through the burgundy corridors. I looked up at the ceiling to see multiple golden chandeliers. This place was truly beautiful, if it wasn’t possessed by evil beings. We took a turn to the left. The burgundy colour on the walls and the carpet got replaced by a soft, turquoise colour. This corridor was long and there were way less windows than in the other corridor. As we walked, I heard an eerie laugh.
“You heard that?” I asked. Torin slowly nodded.
“Aye.” We decided to keep walking, but we were both very careful.
Not long after, the laugh filled the corridor again, this time louder and closer.
“There’s someone coming.” Torin said.
“Fuck.” I looked around, seeing nothing. Then, I heard the laugh again. This time, it was right above my head. I slowly looked up. I didn’t know what or who was above me, but I could feel it was nothing good. I heard Torin’s irregular breaths behind me. My eyes slowly focused upwards and my head followed. I was shivering. The thing above me was sending out a very cold energy. This made me even more afraid to look up. I knew Torin was scared as well. I wondered if he saw something. I took one final deep breath before I looked up to the ceiling. I still had my eyes closed. I was scared. Scared that if I looked at the being above me, something would happen. I sucked up and quickly opened my eyes.
