“And you’re sure we need to head back into the land of the ogre’s?” Faith asked.
“Yes Faith, for the millionth time: I’m sure!” I said.
“Okay, okay. Just making sure.” She said. The hard, rocky ground made no sound as we walked over it. There was a heavy wind that made grey sand blow around. I shivered.
“Here, take my jacket, you’re cold.” Torin took off his jacket but I stopped him before he could put it on me. I gave him a short, awkward smile.
“It’s fine, I’ll live.” I said. Torin gave me an obvious fake smile that hid disappointment and put his jacket back on. I closed up my jacket and tried to look into the distance, but I couldn’t see much through the storm.
“Can anyone see anything?” I asked. Torin and Faith both replied with no. Behind me, I heard a sound like someone was looking in their bag.
“Here, Rubes! This might help a bit!” Faith said as she handed me something.
“A flashlight?” I asked her.
“Yeah, turn it on.” I searched for the button and clicked it on. Suddenly, the white light coming from the flashlight made clear where to walk and where there were hazards.
“Huh, it does work. You’re a genius, Faith.” I said as I turned my face to her. Faith giggled.
“Thanks.” She replied. I turned my head back as we kept walking.
“Bloody hell…” Torin said. I was walking next to him, but I was talking with Faith in the meantime. I turned my head back and saw what he was looking at. I turned my flashlight towards it. We were looking at a massive cave, in the middle of nowhere. The cave had four huge, stone tusks, one on each side and one on each side on the ‘roof’. The tusks on the roof were a little smaller than the ones that were standing on the ground. The cave was just a huge red flag. I turned around so I could see both Faith and Torin. I sighed.
“Here we are…” I said. Faith couldn’t bring herself to speak. I could see the fear in her eyes.
“Alright… we better get goin’ then.” Torin said. I stopped him.
“Hold on, big guy. Don’t you think we gotta prepare or something?” I asked. Torin looked at me like I just gave him a complex maths equation.
“No, what is there to prepare?” He replied. I sighed and turned back to the cave's entrance.
“I guess you’re right.” I said. I turned back to Faith once more.
“If you want, you can wait outside.” I said and gave her a reassuring smile. She shook her head.
“Na-ah! I’m not staying here alone, let’s go.” She pushed past me and was the first to enter the cave. I locked eyes with Torin.
“Feisty.” He said. I chuckled.
“She sure is.” I said and entered the cave behind Faith. I heard Torin follow. Soon, the three of us were in the cave. Torin lit a torch and the darkness inside got replaced with the warm light of the fire.
