Chapter 24

'The who bot now?' Frenzy asked, looking down at Chromedome as he and his twin sat on the mnemosurgeon's shoulders, while I walked next to him.

'Necrobot.' Chrome said, looking at him as we followed Rewind and Rodimus, who was carrying a desk on his helm for some reason, down the halls to Megatron's office, 'You two have been alive for quite a long time, how do you not know who he is?'

'Eh, sire probably told us but we probably weren't listening.' Rumble shrugged, making me laugh. Chrome sighed and started to explain, 'To put it simply, he's supposed to be the gatekeeper to the Allspark, the "missing link" between life and death.'

'So sort of like the Grim Reaper in human culture?' I asked, tilting my helm. He nodded and watched as Rodimus tried to kick the door open before Rewind had to.

'Eh, I don't believe in all that scrap.' Frenzy snorted, 'How can one bot be responsible for taking millions to the Allspark? It's insane.'

'Well, that is the definition of faith.' Ravage said by my feet, 'Believing without seeing right?' 'Yeah, and you and your conjunx seem very interested in the Necrobot, why's that?' Ratbat asked, flying over Chrome's helm.

'Dominus Ambus, we're still trying to find him since Rewind says there are legends about the Nectrobot having records of the dead.' CD said before I felt the conversation drop.

But Rumble looked back at me with a raised eyebrow, 'Who?' He asked through our bond.

I sighed and watched Chromedome out the corner of my optic as I followed him into Megatron's office, 'Rewind's old flame before he met Domey,' I answered, looking up and seeing my sire already in the room with Magnus and Megatron. Like always, he gave me a quick hug as I entered before I went and sat on the floor with my brothers and the symbiotes.

'His search for Dominus was actually how those two met,' I explained, watching the older mechs talking, 'But even after meeting Chrome, I don't think Rewind's ever stopped his search, and Domey's done everything to help him.'

'But what if Rewind ends up finding him?' Laserbeak asked, nestling down on my shoulder while Buzzsaw and Skyraid snuggled on my lap, 'What then happens to Chromedome?'

I looked down and just rubbed the bird's helms on my lap, not knowing and not wanting to answer that question. 'Yeah, that's kinds of an unspoken thing around them,' Remix said, curling around me, 'We don't want to ask and I don't think we want to know.'

'This relationship is more complicated than one of Perceptor's lectures.' Frenzy muttered, 'This is why I don't do love.' 'I'll hold that against you when you find someone.' Our sire suddenly cut in with a chuckle.

'Ew! Romance.' Rumble said, sticking his glossa out. I rolled my optics with a smile and stood up, keeping the two birds in my arms and walking over to the others.

I looked down at the desk in which weird circles with writing around them stuff inside and lines had been scratched onto the metal on the surface. 'It's the map to Cyberutopia.' Soundwave said before I could even ask.

'All hand drawn by me,' Rodimus cut in, his servo on his chassis, 'Is it too soon to have "Chosen One" engraved on my forehead?'

'I can think of more appropriate words.' Megatron muttered behind me, getting me to laugh.

I quickly put Buzz and Sky down on the table as I reached into my subspace and took out my sketchbook and pencil, quickly copying down the map onto a blank piece of paper while they talked behind me.

'Think that'll come in handy later?' Skyraid asked, landing on my shoulder and looking down at it. I stared down at the finished map before closing the book and storing it away. 'Probably not, but it's a cool souvenir.' I smiled and rubbed his helm.
