Yunlan felt the steady strong beats of Wei's heart against his sensitive fingers increase and he couldn't hold back his emotions any longer, as his tears escaped while he deeply kissed and savoured every part of Wei's mouth, stopping only to breathe and stare, he really loved this man and was afraid of losing him. Wei watched as Yunlan's emotions became crystal clear in his mind and he slowly wiped his tears away as he spoke,
"I will never leave you in life or death, I will always be a part of your life now and in the future, and I will never allow anyone to hurt you."
"Are you strong enough to accept that life for such a long time, you cannot protect me from the inevitable." Yunlan said sadly.
"I will only be yours, no one will take your place, and when I have to, I will wait for you to come back to me, always."
Wei knew that he was destined to accept this role in life and that his father had known about it since his birth. It would explain the necessity of his health care and the security around him, protecting him from an early age, but it also brought new worries about his relationship with Yunlan. He would always defend him in whatever situation he found himself, but he couldn't force Yunlan to accept this as his future.
Chief Kunlun watched from afar while the hologram powered down, knowing that Yunlan would reach a point of understanding but he hoped that it would be sooner rather than later. It was going to be difficult for him to combine the normal world and the unbelievable world as one.
Wei enclosed Yunlan in a firm hug before suggesting that maybe they could continue what they had started in different surroundings, which brought a huge smile to Yunlan's face and they adjusted their clothing before having to face the bank manager and his staff still in the reception area.
As they emerged from the lower lever, the staff immediately dropped to their knees again, leaving a pathway clear to the exit door, being glad to breath fresh air once they had left the building. Yunlan's car appeared following them as they walked aimlessly, relieved to be out of the bank and Wei noticed the book that Yunlan was given.
"Where did you get the book, it looks beautiful and old?"
"Kunlun's hologram gave it to me while you were asleep, not sure what it's about, but I will read some of it, would you like to see it?" and he handed the book to Wei to have a look at while they walked. The driver watched as the book was passed to Wei who stopped and froze, causing Yunlan to swirl around and call the driver over immediately.
"Bo, come out and do me a favour will you? Stand behind Shen Wei while I take this away from him, Ready?" Yunlan gently removed the book from Shen Wei's hands and he instantly crumpled into Bo's arms ready to catch him and place him on the rear seat of the car.
"Thank you Bo, it seems that I can read this but Wei can't or he's not allowed to. Things are getting a little weird. Take us back to Wei's house please and we'll put him on top of his bed, thanks."
Yunlan sat beside the driver with the book on his knee watching through the windows as the car silently cruised along the route to Wei's home, and he remembered the first time he was there when Wei had fainted in the street after saving a child from being injured, and he smiled. When they arrived, Bo carried him and took him through to the bedroom to lay him on the bed, then returned to the car leaving Yunlan to make tea and wander around the house.
The last time that he was here, he never had the chance to look at any pictures on the walls or bookshelves or anything else, so he was just passing time waiting for the kettle to boil. There didn't seem to be any photos of Wei's father anywhere, strange, but there were plenty of Wei as he was growing up, school, university, holidays, always alone not with friends. The kettle boiled and he made some tea, and lifting the leather book, he sat on a comfortable seat, beside a small table and a good desk lamp, and started to read.
It was a very detailed book which started from the first Guardian who was also called Yunlan, coincidence he thought and carried on reading, recognising a few other names, popular at that time, enjoying the stories and the similarities of the people in his own office today, which made him look for a date, when was this book written, very old, yes coincidence.
There were a couple of chapters written about a character called Black Robe whom he'd never heard of until that afternoon in the vault, and he was in this very old book. Yunlan wasn't thinking coincidence any more, he was paying attention to what he was reading, especially about the power Black Robe had shown, and the relationship with Zhao Yunlan up until he died an unusual death. He put the book down and went to check on Wei, making sure that he was alive and breathing, still sleeping, good and he returned to his reading.
The next part was about the discovery of another world, science fiction was the word that went through his head until he read about the scientist who fought against the production of a drug used in the war between the two worlds. Also the special team of soldiers who stole a sample to try and develop an antidote against it. Black Robe was also heavily involved in this research to stop the war and bring about peace. Yunlan couldn't remember anything about a world war in any of the history books and wondered if all this was fiction, just a story, until he found some more very recognisable names, with his included and he had to close the book to try and think it through.
Shen Wei coughed and moved slightly causing Yunlan to run and see if he was alright. Standing beside the bed, he watched as Wei's eyes slowly opened and he pulled Yunlan down to kiss him softly with his arms around the back of his neck, smiled and drifted back off to sleep. Yunlan felt Wei's arms slide and he placed them back on the bed but held onto one of his hands, staring at his sleeping beauty.
"Seems like we've always been destined to be together, in life and death, but this decision of yours is difficult for me to accept, I will never leave you and I will always support your choices, I think I need some time my love."
Yunlan leaned over and kissed Wei's brow and took a last glance as he closed the bedroom door, lifted the book and went home to his own place.
