The situation at Auburn has been stagnant for the past few days. The lockdown is still ongoing, as more and more reporters show up outside the gates. Some have even begun camping out. They’ll harass parents coming in, food caterers, even the janitors who clean the halls. No one is safe from their persistence.
Speaking of parents coming to the school, as of today, five days after the bomb went off, at least 20 students have left Auburn Brights Academy. It seems that this school’s once prestigious reputation had been tainted.
And the news hasn't died down either. Since then, more and more people who attended the party have been questioned. Now being called ‘MidnightGate’ on social media, this event has caused stirs in not just America, but in multiple other countries. Apparently, the party also had foreign officials who were invited.
Most of the former attendees have gone into hiding, after stepping down from their jobs. The few that have made statements have only added fuel to the fire.
All in all, this entire situation is shit.
But the worst part about this, is that Vinny betrayed my trust. To think, that night, when he fell asleep in my arms, he was lying about agreeing with the plan. No, he went behind our backs and formed a coup with Octavia and Archie.
This entire mess wouldn’t be as bad as it is right now if we had stuck to the original plan, which was to roll out the information in waves. Give time in between for everything to settle. Then strike lightning again.
Also, part of the plan was to get some of the attendees to rat out on other attendees. Had our plan gone through, we would’ve seen some of them expose themselves. Then our work would be done.
On my bedside table is a framed picture of our entire group. It was taken on Thanksgiving, when we had our potluck. All of us had the biggest smiles on our faces. We were just kids who wanted to explore the world.
Why can’t we just be simple? I want a simple life. Not this.
But then… There's the schism. Tavia has sometimes shown to be a loose cannon, going her own way. I should’ve expected this, honestly. Archie is a bit shocking, since he prefers to keep things under control. But Vinny. The man that I trusted.
I haven’t been able to talk to Vinny since the day of the confrontation. I’ve had online classes while Vinny is busy in the tower. From the little information that Archie relays, things in the tower are hectic.
Vinny spends most of his time alone in his room. He’s since taken on the role of public relations, since Thomasina Norrington has stepped down.
Since my older brother, Isaac, runs the company and is involved in a few high-class groups, he’s also aware of some drama going on. According to Isaac, some people from the party tried to flee the country but were stopped at the airport.
