Nightmares (revising)

A week after recovering from the poison, nightmares started plaguing Law's dreams. He was afraid to close his eyes only to see his horrible childhood memories flash on repeat. His dark circles under his eyes only got worse as more sleepless nights past. After startling awake from them, he just couldn't go back to sleep, he needed air, he couldn't breath. As quietly as he could without waking his lovers, Law gets out of bed to roam the Sunny. He quickly buried himself into the paperwork he was behind on due to the month of recovering from the poison that had blinded sided him. He thought his childhood trauma nightmares had faded away, but because of the poison it had caused them to come back at full swing.

Alexis too had nightly nightmares. Hers had been reoccurring for the past two and half years. Some times they startled her awake, some times they leave her gasping for air, others leaving her bawling her eyes out. Though with the recent events and fear of losing Law they had gotten worse. She would wake up in the middle of the night looking over at her lovers to check on them only to panic because Law was missing. She didn't wish to wake Kid, so she exited the room as silently as she could,  once the was closed behind her, she rushed around trying to locate her raven haired lover. She couldn't relax until she knew he was alright.

She checked in all his normal areas until she found him hunched over staring blankly at the papers in front of him in the Med Bay. She quietly  walked over pulling a chair up next to Law's desk. Neither of them said a word to the other. Just sitting there together, was all the comfort they needed. Just knowing the other was there was enough.

This event had became a nightly routine. One would wake first and the other goes to find them. It was going on three weeks now.

Tonight it was Alexis turn to hunt Law down.

Law was leaning against the ship's railing starring out at the vast open sea. The ocean reflected the moon and stars as they shined brightly in the night sky. Though as beautiful this scene may be, Law's mind was a million miles away. His recent night terrors still fresh on his mind. 

Soon a figure appeared in the corner of his eye. He didn't need to look, he already knew who it was.

Alexis leans forward on the rail resting her arms on it. She too, took in the site before. Like all their other encounters she remained silent. She wasn't going to force him to talk, and vice versa.

But tonight was different. Law shut his eyes as he allowed the memories to flood his mind. "I can still hear the terrified screams of people as they were cut down. I can still see my parents bodies, the bodies of my classmates. I can see the building with my little sister in it burning to the ground as clear as day. I couldn't do anything, but watch every single person on the island die at the hands of the marines. I only survived by hiding in the dead bodies. I see it replay almost every night, sometimes it's you and Eustass lying there instead of my parents, but what never changes is the people I love die."

Alexis turned to face law, bring him into a comforting hug. He clung to her as she held him. Whispering loving words as tears started falling from his eyes. They stood like this for what seemed like forever until she felt him lean heavily into her. Slowly she slid to the ground, gently bring him down with her. Once she was safely seated on the ground, back to the railing, she guided his head to rest in her lap. Running her fingers through his soft raven locks.  Humming gentle melodies to soothe him as he slumbers, starring up at the sky, watching the stars in the wrap both of them in a warm, soft glow. The waves gently rocking the boat that eventually lured her into sleep as well.

A week past and Alexis was still waking up in the middle of the night. She was happy Law was actually getting sleep now, but she didn't know how many more sleepless nights her body can handle. Her she stood staring at sea, her face still pale as her dream was still very fresh on her mind. She hung her head down, squeezing her eyes shut trying to block all the voices that spoke in her dream. A small whimper escapes her lips, tears forming in her eyes. She just wanted it all to stop. Her chest felt tight, she couldn't breath. 'Some one please help' she shouted in her head.

Just when it was becoming to much, a gentle hand reached out, rubbing smoothing circles on her back, breaking her out of the darkness that started to surround her.

Law hand moved to her shoulder wrapping his arm around her. Slowly guiding her to lean into him. She lets out a sigh of relief soaking in his warm embrace. They remained silent as they stood leaning into each other. Sighing Alexis finally spoke up "I see him, every time I close me eyes. It constantly replaying the events in my mind. One moment we are goofing around, the next he is dying in my arms, with a gapping whole through his chest.

Screams, laughter, shouting. Ace whispering with a sickening grin saying I should have died instead of him. How I am unworthy to wield his devil fruit. Then we switch places as I fall to the ground gasping for breath as Ace joins the voices mocking me as I lay dying there" Alexis pauses to catch her breath as she sniffled fighting the tears that threaten to fall. Law pulled me closer to him, not saying anything as I continued. " 'you failed Ace. You should have died instead of him. You will fail them as you did ace.' Then ace and the crowd vanishes. Then You and Kid appear............" Law tighten his hold on her upon hearing this.

"You want to know what really pains me about all of this?" It was more of a statement then a question. At this point the tears were falling freely from her eyes. "What you two say to me when you appear. Kid mockingly staring down at me, laughing 'you actually think I care about a mistake like you? You were nothing, but a pretty little toy for me fuck as I please." Law joins in chuckling "We never cared for you. No one has. You should not be here. Soon everyone will see how useless you really are' " alexis spills the last details barely able to get it out. Her knees collapsed on her. Law refusing to let go of her, eased both of them safely to the ground, pulling her into his lap. He kept his arms wrapped around her as she rested her head on Law's chest. As she continue to weep clinging to him.

Law finally spoke up "you are not a mistake. You have every right to be here, just like the rest of us. You are one of the Strongest people I know. I love and cherish you. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be here now." Law kissed her forehead.

Eventually Alexis cried herself to sleep. It wasn't long before Law started drifting off.

Kid had reached out in bed trying to cuddle his lovers but only to find he was alone. Grumbling as he got decent enough, he left the comfort of his warm bed in search of them. He paused when he came outside to see his two lovers, Alexis sitting curled up in Law's lap, clinging to him, as he had his arms around her. Not wasting any time, walking over to them. He easily slipped behind Law, legs on either side of him. Bringing Law to lean into his chest, wrapping both of them in is warm protective arms. Law smiles in his sleep nuzzling into Kid's rather large pillowy man boobs. Smiling at this, Kid kissed both of his lovers on the top of their heads before he too drifted back to sleep.

The next morning Nami stumbled upon the three lovers sleeping together on the deck. She wasn't blind. She knew Law and Alexis wasn't sleeping properly. They looked like walking zombies these last 4 weeks. So if they were sleeping, then she would allow them to continue to do so. They needed it after all.

Sanji came out next about to do his routine loud greeting to his Nami-swan, but was stopped as she  shushed him, pointing at something. Confused his eyes followed where she was pointing at, quickly understanding. They both walked off leaving the lovers alone.

That was the best sleep that the three of them had in a very long time.
