The Sick Days (revising)

It was early in the morning when Rouge came into their bedroom sniffling. "Papa?" She whined. Law began to stir and looked at his daughter. "What is it, Gremlin?" He asks sleepily.

"I threw up all over my bed." She rubs at her eyes. Alexis starts to stir, but Law shushes her back to sleep as he throws his feet over the bed and picks up the now 8 year old, carrying her to the med bay.

"Let's take your temperature, okay?" He asks and she nods weakly. "102. That's definitely not where it should be. Take this." He hands her a fever reducer and a cup of water.

  Just as she finishes downing her water the door opens to reveal Ace, not looking any better than his sister. "Sick?" Law asks him. He nods before vomiting all over the floor. Law sighs as he lifts him up on the cot beside Rouge's, repeating his earlier steps with Ace this time. "Okay you two lie here for a bit while I clean up, okay? Don't move too much or it might churn your stomach." They do as instructed and Law fetches the mop to clean the med bay up. Afterwards he cleans the mess on Rouge's bed before returning to his kids. He smiled a little to see them asleep as he sat at his desk, knowing he wouldn't be sleeping the rest of the night.

Just before the rest of the crew started to stir Kid slunk into the med bay, face greener than the sea. "Kid-ya?" Law addresses his husband. Kid vomits exactly where Ace had. Law sighs, glad he still had the mop on stand by.

  Law gets Kid on the last cot in the med bay and gives him a fever reducer. He places a Luke warm cloth on all three of their heads then goes about mopping the mess again. Kid whimpers miserably at his husband. "Sorry." He mumbles.

"It's okay, can't help sickness." Alexis walks in at that moment and freezes.

"All of them are sick?" She says just before Rosinante and Edward come in, ill as well.  Law sighs as he moves Ace to join his sister in her cot and put the other twins in the open bed.

"Lami and Umiko aren't sick, at the moment. Did they catch a bug?" Alexis asked concerned. Law shrugs "Probably. Ace and Rouge's fevers have gone down some. Rest and light foods until they feel better."

Alexis nods as she goes to tell the cook to make only soup and crackers for the 5.

Kid wraps himself in a blanket, moaning and groaning. Law rolls his eyes. The 4 kids were taking this better than Kid was. Law made sure each one had access to a trash can in case they got sick again.

After another dose of fever reducer and soup the kids slowly began to act themselves again by the end of the day. Law was happy to see the light return to their eyes. Kid remained curled in a ball whimpering.

Law sighs at his husband. "Okay kids, you can go play. Stay out of peoples faces and take it easy. Don't want to backslide." The kids agree and run from the room. Law turns to Kid.

'You, I know you're fine now. Out!"

"Such a mean doctor to throw out a sick patient!" Kid whines. Law rubs his eyes, feeling tired all of a sudden.

"Not in the mood Eustass-ya." Law sighs.

"You are mean." Kid pouts.

Before Law could respond, he rushes to a trash can to empty out his stomach. "Damn it, you got me sick, meathead-ya."

Kid grins. "Now I get to be your doctor."

"Anything but that." Law rasps between gags. Kid mocks offense.

"I'll have you know I know how to treat fevers." Law flips him off. Kid huffs but drags his husband into the cot he had been in previously.

"Just shut up and let someone take care of you for once." Kid says as he gives Law the thermometer, accepting his help.

"Love you." Law murmurs as sleep took him.
