Today was the first day of classes, and Serena was up bright and early. Not even Lizzie, who is an energentic as can be was up. She looked at the clock: 4:45am. It was far too early to be up, but she got out of bed.

She walked to her closet and opened her closet. A few fairy lights lit up the closet. Serena used some basic magic to freshen up. Her long platinum hair that was in almost a million knots was smoothed and flattened in an instant with a little shine. The uniform was right by the mirror. It was a baby blue vest with gold embellishments and a skirt that was wine red, almost to resemble Prince Charming himself.

By then, her roommates started getting up and dressed, one by one.

It was now 5:30, and soon enough, they all went to breakfast together.

At the table, they exchanged schedules and a conversation caught Serena's attention.

"Lizzie, how's things with your soulmate doing?" Claudia asked.

"Oh, he's perfect! He's currently writing a play and working on some music too! I didn't spend too much time with him though, we were both so busy over break!"

"I see. Well, my soulmate and I went on vacation to his village and it was a total culture shock! I'm so used to the warm climate of my home village, and his was just so cold."

Serena sipped on some coffee and looked perplexed.

"Wait, what's a soulmate?"

Everybody looked at her in shock.

"You don't know what a soulmate is?" Aubree put down her tea.

Serena shook her head.

"That's how your parents met." Claudia said.

"Yeah, but how does it happen?"

"Right, you skipped the first year of Academy. So, a soulmate is the person that you are bound to be with for the rest of your life, and you two might have something in common! For example, let's just say you want to build a cat shelter for stray cats who are looking for forever homes and there is somebody who wants to do the same thing! Boom! You two are soulmates! Soulmates aren't always a boy and girl, it could be any combination really!" Lizzie explained.

"When do you find out your soulmate?"

"During the first year, your soulmate or you depending on your personality will find who your soulmate is and either give or be given a bouquet of blue roses. It could be anybody, from a stranger to your best friend, by the last day of the first year, you should have a soulmate." Claudia answered.

"Well....... um..." Serena fidgeted with her fingers.

"Has there ever been somebody who had more than one soulmate?" Serena asked.

"At least once a year, somebody gets 2 or more soulmates, or they become attracted to somebody else. That's when the Head of the Professor gets involved, because if you have 2 or more soulmates, then you would be reconsidered as a student and potentially expelled."

"What?"

"Because, what happens is that they will have a soulmate in their home village already and list themselves as avaliable. Cheating is one of the worst crimes that can happen. In the end, the student has to either choose between one or the other, either way, a heart is getting broken."

"Oh my god."

"One year, somebody's soulmate came to the campus and found their soulmate cheating on them. Unfortonately, the one that came to the campus was killed, by the cheater."

"That's terrible!"

Suddenly, the bell rang and the girls all finished breakfast.

"Time for class." Aubree groaned.

Classes started at 7am sharp and ended at 3pm. There was morning tea at 9am, lunch at 12, and afternoon tea normally after class. Most classes lasted for 55 minutes, with time to go from one class to another.

Serena walked down the hall and noticed that a lot of eyes were on her, mainly the eyes of male students. She kept her head down and went to open her locker where her magic cloak was.

Today was an important day. Just be you. Serena took a deep breath and she put on her cloak and gracefully shut her locker.

The day went by extremely quickly, with Serena getting many stares, compliments, and instant respect. The whole day, people were coming up to her and saying "You're THE Serena Caelum?"

Yes, in fact she was.

Late at night, she had her nose in her "Charmer's Magic" book while her roommates were doing separate things of their own.

KNOCK KNOCK!

Serena looked up from her book and must have thought she heard something, so she went back to her book.

All until Claudia got up from her desk and looked around.

"Seriously? Nobody opened up the door? What are you guys, scaredy cats?"

"I'm not expecting anybody at this hour." Lizzie was color coding her closet.

Aubree yawned.

Claudia opened up the door.

"No way."

Suddenly, everybody started to look interested and went to the door.

"Blue roses." Serena gasped.

There was a bouquet of blue roses left at the door. Attached was a little note on the side.

"Serena, these are for you." Claudia picked the bouquet up and gave it to her.

"For me?"

The girls went in the room and shut the door.

Serena took a nervous breath and opened the note.

"Serena,

I do not know you very well, but I would like to tell you that I am your soulmate. I do have to say that I am sorry for the unexpected surprise, but I'm sure you are aware of the soulmate tradition at this academy. One day, you will get to meet me."

Everybody just looked at the blank spot where a name would be.

"That has never happened before." Lizzie was in shock.

"Not to mention, it seems weird." Claudia instantly showed disgust.

"Did you bump into anybody that showed interest in you today?" Claudia turned to Serena.

"Well, a lot of guys were staring at me. So many eyes were on me." Serena admitted.

"Really?" Aubree became interested.

"It's not like a soulmate to leave a bouquet, let alone not sign a name to it." Lizzie investigated.

"I don't have a good feeling about this." Claudia shook her head.

"Why?" Serena asked.

"Look. I'm not naturally an old fashioned person, but the soulmate tradition has been going on since the beginning of time. You can't just change an important event like that."

"Maybe..." Serena picked up the bouquet. "This person wants to keep their identity hidden, or have me find out for myself."

She hugged the bouquet and looked over to the moon.
