Serena slept for 72 hours until her body started to lose control. Nikolai had placed a sleeping spell on her that would keep her asleep for at least 24 hours, so Serena sleeping 72 hours was quite a surprise.
Until, he learned that it came at a little cost.
The demon had fully taken over Serena while she was in her deep slumber. Nikolai was about to feed her when Serena jolted up, causing Nikolai to drop his food.
"ARGH!"
The tea and toast that he had prepared for her was now on his clothes.
"AHHHH!"
Serena stared into his soul and had a smirk that made it look like she was up to no good.
"I slept for 3 days straight!"
"Yeah, you did."
"Wow, did you know what this would do to me?"
"I don't know. I thought it would make you feel better."
"It obviously fucking didn't! And now, you're even deeper in shit than you were! Kudos to you!"
"No shit. No shit! I sacrificed my studies, my mental and physical wellbeing, my life in this academy, and so much more just for you! Do you think that this is just a joke for you to laugh about? NO! Serena so somebody that I consider very dear to my heart and seeing her like this, this demon in her body......"
He felt himself start to create tears, an emotional response that his body normally never had done once before.
"It breaks me to see you do this to her."
Serena just sat there with that same huge evil smile on her.
"It's easy to break a girl like her. She's too nice, too naive, too generous. I guess she's always been like that."
"I know that Serena is not saying those words herself."
"She's not. But, I have full control of her, this power and her body. It could make anybody go wild."
"Just who exactly are you?"
Serena stared him dead in the face.
"Your worst fucking nightmare."
She curtsied elegantly and giggled innocently.
Nikolai shook his head as Serena slithered towards him.
"Come on now, isn't enough enough? What exactly do you want from her?"
"She's right. Being a human in here has its perks. Such as so many of the humans are weaklings compared to her. But you, you are quite an interesting case. Quite different. It feels like I've seen you before."
"Well, I don't know who my parents are."
"That's not the response I was looking for. What I mean is, something always felt so familiar about you."
"In what way?"
"I once knew somebody that could uncover the truth of just about anybody. A power that was set in for an extremely powerful wizard family."
"Or, if you know somebody for so long then you can tell when something is wrong, there are obvious signs."
"Intelligent as ever. No wonder you were called the perfect. It's strange though."
"What's strange?"
"How you can identify a demon but not know a thing about where your family is from. Your family was once... how do I say it?"
"Say it, say it loud." He gripped Serena's shoulders tightly.
"Oh, I shouldn't say at all. It will ruin your life. Maybe when you get your life together, then you'll learn."
He let go of Serena's shoulders.
"Tell me and let Serena go."
"Where's my end of the bargain? You're just benefitting yourself."
"Normally, I give Serena my benefits. But, you're not her. Serena is a totally different girl from what you expect. You're just upset that I caught you. Spoiler alert: it was obvious that you were an imposter. Everybody can see it."
"And what was your isolating and sleeping away the pain supposed to do? It did nothing, only made things worse."
The demon now was getting quite frisky with the movements, almost as if Nikolai was set to fall into a trap of doom. But he knew. Before her hands could grip onto his chest, he pulled them back and gave a little smirk.
"Don't distract me. You're just making things worse for you." Nikolai imitated back.
"Come on, can't I just touch you? You can let go, you know? I swear, I don't bite."
"Liar. Remember when you gave me all these bite marks?" He pointed to all of them. "All of them. They were done by you."
"And they burned?"
Nikolai nodded.
"I may have tried to eat you."
"Eat me?"
"Your body tastes absolutely delicious. I'm sure Serena must have told you that, in some sort of way."
"You demons are wild creatures."
"If that's the truth, then magic is real. This is what the world has come to."
"Can this demon ever leave Serena's body? Or will you be inside her forever?"
"As much as you want to be inside her like I am, I don't know the answer to that. Not like you need to know either. She's safe though."
Nikolai raised his eyebrow.
"I don't think that's the case at all. You see, what you are doing right now is what we call concerning and you need to get a life, preferably one away from any kind of human or magical contact. Maybe some food for thought."
"I appreciate the offer, but no thank you. This is way more fun anyways."
"Say that again?"
"Being a demon in a human's body is like a child in a candy store."
"And what is that supposed to mean?"
"It means that I have complete power over you, and you have nothing."
Nikolai just sighed one last time and admitted defeat. He got up and left the bed, to exit out of the door to get to his next destination.
"Seriously? You're just going to walk away?"
"You're rambling on too much. I need to take a walk to clear my head."
"Take me with you!"
"It's not safe for you to be out there."
Serena slumped on the bed and while Nikolai had his back turned, she took out her wand and aimed it at him.
"It's not safe for you to turn that door handle now, is it?"
Nikolai felt the wand on him and readied his wand.
"If this is how you want to be, then so be it."
