Serena did not sleep a wink that night. All she could think about was who sent her those flowers? So many boys had approached her yesterday, but none with a bouquet of blue roses.
The next day, she went to her locker to grab her cloak and just as she shut her locker, she heard a voice, a voice right next to her.
"Wondering who your soulmate is?"
She turned and saw a boy with tan skin, curly hair that was messy and nearly to his shoulders, brown eyes that were nearly the color of black, a few piercings, and had a little bit of height over her.
"Yeah, I was actually. Do you know who he is?"
He smirked and chuckled.
"Well, you're looking right at him."
She gasped in surprise.
"Is it the invisible man?"
His smirk fell off his face.
"No, you dummy. It's me."
"Do I know you? I don't think we ever met."
"Look, I didn't want you to be my soulmate. I had no choice. I've been soulmate-less since the beginning of my time here, and I FOR SURE do not need YOU at all."
Serena just looked at him dumbfounded.
"Ok."
"Ok? That's all you have to say?"
"I don't know you at all, but I do not condone being rude to a complete stranger. And, what kind of proof do you have that proves that you are in fact my soulmate?"
"I sent the bouquet to Room 210, that's your room, correct?"
"Yeah, and what else?"
"Look, that's the thing. I DON'T KNOW. You are NOT my type and we seem to have NOTHING in common. But, we have something in common, but I don't know WHAT."
"Well, how about you figure IT OUT?"
Serena stood on her tippy toes and screamed at him.
"I found you, so that must be a piece of the puzzle."
"Do you know my name?"
"I do in fact. It's Serena Caelum, the angel from heaven. I hear about you, you're the buzz of the school. Wait until everybody finds out about us. We'll both be screwed."
"That's common knowledge. Tell me your name."
She went down from her tippy toes.
He bit his lip.
"Nikolai. Nikolai Reve. Do me a favor...."
He whispered to her.
"Never mention my name or go near me."
Serena was fed up.
"Don't waste my time them."
She bumped him on the shoulder and stormed away.
Nikolai rubbed his shoulder and watched her storm away.
"Damn. For an angel, she has an attitude and a temper."
Serena just walked down the hall and the frustration was obvious on her face.
At afternoon tea, she was chatting with her roommates over mini pastries and sandwiches.
"Any luck finding your soulmate yet?" Claudia took a sip of tea.
"Don't mention it."
"Why? Did somebody claim to be your soulmate?"
