"We have good news and bad news. Which one would you prefer to hear first?"

Serena stared at the doctor with bloodshot eyes. Nikolai was in an intensive care unit for the past few days and Serena had never left his side since then.

"I'll take any good news. Anything." She pleaded.

The doctor flipped through his papers and read off a sheet of paper.

"Let's see. His vitals are normal, and he has a pulse. Aside from a few deep wounds, many of his injuries that he had obtained were easy to fix with some care."

"And the bad news?"

"Ah yes, due to the nature of his physical state, he had been struck into a coma. This coma will last indefinitely."

Serena's eyes pleaded and she tried to blink back tears.

"How? Is there anything that could be done? What do you plan to do to him?"

"I understand your frustration. However, we have spent countless hours attempting to take him out of his current comatose state. All our efforts failed. We cannot keep him here forever."

"But... I could keep him alive if you can't keep him."

"Sadly, it would not be worth it. It would be best to let him pass on."

"No." Serena interrupted him.

The doctor realized that this was going to be a fight that he was not going to win. He then nodded his head.

"If you need anything then, my name is Dr. Renais. I will let you be." He left and shut the door.

Serena sat down on the chair and buried her head in her legs. She screamed and then stared at Nikolai in the hospital bed. Daylight was fluttering through the window but yet the world felt miserable. She looked up at the clouds that were in the sky and then an idea came to her head.

"I'll be back, I have an idea."

Quietly, she left the room and went outside. The village the hospital in seemed more urban compared to Haerz and Palato and there was quite a bit of action. With her magic abilities, she folded her hand and prepared to send a message to Fynn.

"Big brother, I need your assistance. Are you available in this moment?"

Her message floated up to the sky and she went to sit down on a bench.

Shortly after, she started to hear his voice.

"Little sister! How are things? We miss you! You sound upset, what went wrong this time?"

Serena thought again and then proceeded to send her message.

"Things could be better. My soulmate just had a near fatal injury. He's in a coma. I need you to find a book in the library. His coma is indefinite."

Another message came down a little while later.

"Which book are you looking for? By the way, the family says hello."

"Did you tell them about my tragedy?"

"As your older brother, your pain is our pain. We all struggled with our soulmates in various ways. Mother barged an answer out of me. I tried to keep it brief. But, she loathes when you keep secrets from her."

"Of course. She saw you running to the library and was like "Serena wants a book." You never go to the library because you don't read."

"Hey, I'm the heir to heaven. I don't have time for leisure."

"Ok ok, older brother. I get it. Tell them I'll be coming up soon. I just need a book that is exclusive to heaven. Here's the coordinates. Go into the library, take the 2nd right. Make a left at the tenth set of shelves, look straight and go all the way down until you get to that one bookshelf. THAT one. It's the 14th book you see if you go left to right. "H&H" it's called."

"Noted. I got it. HOLY MOLY ITS HEAVY. Are you sure this is the correct one? It's at least 5000 pages."

"That's it. Send it down!"

As soon as she sent the message, the book floated down and she grabbed it with her hands.

"Thank you!!!!" She said to the sky and then she started to read. Starting by skimming every page that was in the book and ran her finger through every word.

For hours she sat and when the sun started to set, and she could barely read the words. It was when she arrived on page 3016. Her finger stopped on the paragraph she was looking for and it was like she hit the jackpot. The words echoed in her head.

"The Great Sacrifice is to sacrifice your immortality and powers of an angel in exchange for a wish of your choosing. With this power can make any wish come true, with a few exceptions that may not be possible for the world to handle. Instances can include reviving a person from the dead, solving extreme problems such as world peace, world hunger, or climate change, and changing time. Be advised that once you give up the power of angelhood, you will never be able to transform into an angel or return to heaven until your mortal existence has expired."

Serena thought about this for a moment. As much as she cared about where she came from and her family and all that they have done for the land, she knew that in the past few months that she had fallen in love with Grozine and all it has to offer. Everyday here was not the same and all the people and every new experience made her more curious about the world around her. And Nikolai, oh Nikolai. The boy that she never thought that she would become so attached to.

She prayed to the heavens and came at a standstill. Would her efforts work? Serena wondered about all the outcomes of what could happen. She could have her wish granted and he would awaken again, her wish could be refused, and she would stay an angel and Nikolai would never wake again, or the wish could go through, and he would never come back, leaving Serena to stay a mortal and be lonely.

What would she choose? Would she save him or save her happiness and immortality?
