Talk about a moment that was ruined, the time at the lake ended in near disaster as the headmaster detected "suspicous spirits" coming from the lake.

Nonetheless, Serena and Nikolai started to sneak out from time to time.

On a morning where Serena woke up a little too early, she was on her balcony, looking out at the sky which was starting to show the first light of the day.

All of a sudden, she starts hearing a faint sound of a guitar and she hums to the melody after a few seconds.

The sound of the guitar gets closer and she's starting to wonder if she's hearing things.

So, she turns around and Nikolai is there.

On.

Her.

Balcony.

Playing a guitar.

That was when Serena realized she was in her night clothes, which was a camisole dress that barely covered her body and a fur coat with slippers.

Nikolai and her were staring at each other, and he started to intensify his guitar playing.

Serena folded her arms.

"What a lovely alarm clock you are."

He stopped his guitar.

"You're up early, you're normally such a heavy sleeper that even your roommates come out and wonder who's been playing the same melody for a month."

"Again, you surprise me."

"I'm full of surprises, just like you."

He started to play a familar tune, one that was a lot more chill and somewhat not Nikolai, gesturing towards her.

"You want me to sing?"

He nodded.

"I don't think we want me to."

He stopped playing his guitar.

"Says the girl that serenades souls in heaven to sooth them."

"It's not like I'm a theaterical actress, or a famous singer songwriter. I'm just Serena, supposed to be just another girl."

"But, you aren't."

Serena turned away.

"Everybody says that I'm not another girl. I don't believe them, ever."

"Why not?"

"I really don't understand your human psychology, you and other humans. I feel like an alien compared to so many of your kind."

Nikolai edged up to her.

"We're all aliens at the end of the day. All of us are different and that's what makes life down here so much more fascinating that in heaven. So many walks of life, and not the same situation everyday of your life."

Serena stared at him.

"Still though, there's so many questions that I wonder about.... everything."

He picked up his guitar and started to play that same song again.

"In life, not all questions can be asked and answered, you have to find out the answers for yourself."

"Trying to make me sing again?"

"I'm just teaching you how to let loose and be a human. Now, sing."

Serena gave an unsure and unconfident look.

"Fine. But, you're the only one hearing my singing voice."

"I'd be honored. You know this song by heart, one of your go tos for calming people down."
