☾epilogue☽

✧✧✧ FIVE YEARS LATER (22 years old)

It was a rainy Friday, my sweater clung to me as was just a tad bit damp as I entered my car and slammed it shut. Sighing in content, I shook out my wet hair and rubbed the moisture off of my face. Turning my jeep on, I instantly flicked the windshield wipers on.

I plugged my phone into the radio with the aux cord, and let Daughter fill my car with her beautiful voice. The rain increased by the time I moved my Dr. Martens over the gas pedals.

College classes had ended just a bit earlier today because there was a warning that there was going to be a storm, and the power was going to be off. My professor had thought we had better get home in time to mail him our essays before the darkness came.

Peeling into a grocery store, I parked and stepped outside shivering. Going over to where the already made soup was, I got some of the lentil soup in a cup. Then I walked over to the little coffee shop inside the store.

"Hey, Jamie," I said to the coffee boy.

He smiled. "Hey, Halo, I can see that it's raining outside," he said nodding at my drenched figure.

"I guess," I said, laughing.

"Do you want my jacket, it has a hood?" He asked, moving to make the tea I regularly ask for.

"No, I'm okay. I'm going straight home after this anyways," I said, unaware that at that moment I was telling a lie.

He looked up at me over the machine, his chocolate brown eyes questioning. "Have you found out anything about Walter or Kyle?"

I bit my lip. "No trace."

"I'm sorry."

The mood instantly changed, I trembled in my frozen clothes. I bit my lip and blinked hard, trying to hold back the lump in my throat.

Taking my tea which warmed my cold hands, I waved goodbye to Jamie. Shuffling as fast as I could, I tried getting out of the store before anyone else could ask me the same question Jamie had.

I had no clue where Walter or Kyle could be. Well, maybe a slight one.

Stripping my sweater off once I was in the car, I leaned back and fetched a different sweater from the backseats. My heart was racing, and I jumped and hit my head against the window as I heard my phone ring.

"May?" I asked once I picked up. Tears pricking my eyes at the thought of how my sister was feeling.

"Halo, they've been gone for five days now, where did he take my baby?" She cried.
