Eyes don't lie

While the others were chatting vividly and drinking their beverages, Jeno couldn't focus at all. He only caught small pieces of the others' conversation, but they weren't enough for him to even know what the subject of their talk was.
The cause of it was that Donghyuck was pressed against Jeno's left side.
When the friends had entered the cafe, they had been lucky enough to find a table to sit at as the cafe had many visitors today due to the release of a new drink. Yes, they did find a place to enjoy their milkshakes and lemonades at but unfortunately the space was very limited, resulting in Jeno and Donghyuck having to share the small leather bench on one side of the table while the other three had somehow managed to get chairs.
Before that, they had played rock paper scissors before and Donghyuck and Jeno losing had to hit down on the bench, which lead them to how it was now.
And this surely was challenging for Jeno.
Having the other one being so close to him, he couldn't miss the for the other boy characteristic citrus detergent scent that he loved. It was irritating his nose with every single breath he took. Additionally, feeling Donghyuck next to him made him also feel the other's warmth and the thought of him and Donghyuck being so close to each other made him nearly shiver but not from a bad cause.
Jeno felt electrified, he felt hot and nervous and couldn't think straight. Although he shared skin-ship with Donghyuck not so rarely, it being initiated unintentionally was somehow more nerve-wracking and just had a special sentiment to it.
Still, the others- except for Renjun of course, who took a glimpse at Jeno every few minutes- seemed to not notice how quiet Jeno was. Maybe because he was a more silent and calm person in general.
Jeno could say that he was lucky they didn't talk to him in order for him having to answer and giving away his nervousness as he usually speaks haltingly when that is the cause. During their time at the cafe he just tried to calm down his nerves and stay still, not raising any suspicious.
But the whole tranquillity he had managed to keep was hugely disturbed when he suddenly felt Donghyuck's hand on his thigh. At first it was just resting there casually but then Donghyuck started to tap it with his fingers, a habit of him when he was bored.
Jeno tried to remain unfazed and block out the sensation of Donghyuck's fingers that were now moving down his thighs to start playing with the hole of his ripped jeans that uncovered his knee. He played around with the white threads while Jeno tried to convince himself that Donghyuck was doing this unintentionally, that he was just distracting himself by fiddling with something.
That didn't help with him having to act normally as Mark had started a talk with him about the last baseball match of their town's team. Starting an attempt of ignoring Donghyuck's hand that was still occupied with the strings of his jeans, he threw in a "same" or "mhm" every now and then to convince Mark that he was indeed attentively listening. Donghyuck now tracing his fingers over his exposed knee didn't make it easier. It almost felt as if he was teasing Jeno but he knew that this was just a dumb thought.
After having to actually speak with Mark in a controlled way, he couldn't bare it anymore. It was too distracting. Hence, he held himself together for half of a minute and when Mark wad finally done and sipped his peach ice-tea, he didn't hesitate to grab Donghyuck's hand to refrain him from doing what he was.
Said boy immediately halted his movement in no time and Jeno looked up to see his reaction, not letting his hand go. He froze for a moment and stared into the brown eyes of the younger boy besides him who was looking back at him with a calm but knowing expression. Jeno raised his eyebrow as if to say "What are you doing?" but Donghyuck just started to grin cheekily not breaking their eye contact. It seemed like he knew exactly what he was doing and that was confusing Jeno.
Why did he act like this? Jeno was used to Donghyuck's sneaky and questionable behavior but for him this was much more intimate. Like, he didn't want to read too much into this strange action but his friends had never put a hand on his thigh before so it was unusual.
Not letting his mind come up with silly meaningless thoughts, Jeno carefully grabbed Donghyuck's wrist and placed it on the other's thigh, not registering the boy was just silently watching him while he was doing so. As he looked up, Jeno of course met Donghyuck's eyes briefly and couldn't prevent a small blush forming on his cheeks that he hoped nobody would notice. His crush didn't show any reaction though, he just looked at him with a somewhat blank expression, nevertheless flustering Jeno who didn't know how to handle this.
What was "this" even?
Donghyuck was acting very oddly and if Jeno didn't know he had a boyfriend he would have thought the other was toying with him in a flirty way.
He somehow innerly started to panic when he became aware of the fact they were sitting across their friends who could question what was going on, even if he knew they wouldn't find anything suspicious in this as Donghyuck was doing quizzical things nobody understood on a daily basis. Yet, relief washed over him when Donghyuck finally turned away and took a sip of his lemonade, soon joining the discussion some of the others were having, making it seem like the incident right now had never occurred.
It was different for the other boy who had happened to be part of it.
Even after a few minutes, Jeno could still feel his heart beating a bit faster due to the unexpected action, and his brain offering him the most delusive ideas didn't really help him calm down.
I'm back! Thank you for waiting and reading! This was kinda weird to write for me but I hope I could somehow get the atmosphere and feelings across. Have a nice day/night! ^^
