Eyes don't lie

"So, now let's start doing the exciting games!," Jaemin screamed enthusiastically when all of the friends were seated on the floor in a circle, having had finished all of the pizza.
"And what is that supposed to be?," Renjun asked, clearly not as excited as the other boy at the moment.
"Basic games for parties, like truth or dare, would you rather...," Jaemin explained.
"Uhh, I'll get a bottle for spinning," Donghyuck said, seeming also excited and stood up, disappearing into the kitchen.
Jeno at the same time could feel the nervousness starting to fill up his body. It was not that he disliked these kind of games but they were still nerve-wracking as you never knew which question or dare you would need to face.
"Let's already start collecting ideas in our heads so we have some ready later on," Mark meant and on cue started to furrow his eyebrows, looking deep in thought while trying to find interesting questions and funny dares. The rest of the boys also thought while Donghyuck was returning with an empty glass bottle.
"Are y'all ready?," he exclaimed, a playful glint in his eyes as he began to spin it, all of them expectantly watching the bottle turn into a blur. They could hear their heartbeat echoing in their ears, and even though that could be seen as ridiculous, because why would anyone get so fussy about some stupid thing like this, the game never failed to bring a lot of fun and was always played during all of their sleepovers. At some point, the bottle stopped showing at Jaemin and breaths that had been hold were released.
"Okay, so Jaemin, truth or dare?," Donghyuck questioned while squeezing the pillow he was holding against his body delightedly.
"Truth," he answered, to which Donghyuck commented a "lame".
"Does anyone have a good truth for him?," Mark wanted to know and eyed all of them, waiting for an answer.
"I do," Jeno chimed in, trying not to glance at Renjun.
"Tell Renjun three compliments," he ordered, relaxing with a satisfied and amused grin seeing Renjun trying to hide a smile and at the same time hitting Jeno on his back for creating this situation.
The younger one could tell he didn't really mean it though, as his expression portrayed the boy's inner expectance if you looked closely. Having known Renjun for a long time, he could see that he was very nervous, though not in a bad way. Donghyuck who was sitting opposite Jeno also exchanged a knowing grin with him, as always knowing about everything that was happening around him-or almost everything, enjoying this as much as Jeno did.
"Okay," Jaemin said, a hint of nervousness audible but he overplayed it, taking a deep breath before turning to face Renjun who was seated to his left.
"Uhm, okay so I really like about you that you are never scared to voice your own opinions or stand up for yourself. Although you seem calm, you know how to defend and express yourself. I admire that about you," he started and Jeno noticed that it was the first time he had seen Jaemin so serious and nervous. Not even an upcoming language exam which the boy despised and sucked at had ever made him as nervous as he was right now.
"Thank you," Renjun answered shyly, waiting for what more the other had to say.
"Also, you are the most caring person I know. You always manage to show your care for someone and even if it's by only small gestures sometimes, it's precious and meaningful," Jaemin continued and smiled lovingly, Renjun restraining a wide grin in return by chewing at the inside of his right cheek.
"And lastly, you're cute," Jaemin ended his tiny flood of compliments, his smile growing bigger at that, he knew the last one was cheesy, but also the truth.
"Thanks," Renjun replied quietly and looked away a bit ashamed and overwhelmed though he didn't hate it. Still, he would have to talk to Jeno later on for unexpectedly attacking his heart like that.
"Great, now let's go on with the game," Donghyuck meant, Jaemin reacting by spinning the bottle. Again the expectation was rising as they all watched it with eagle eyes until it stopped pointing at...Jeno. The boy's eyes widened in surprise and he started getting slightly edgy.
"Truth or dare?," Mark asked and Jeno swore he could feel how the other was up to something.
"What should I choose?," he pondered inwardly, weighing up possible outcomes of his choice.
"Dare," he then let the others know, in his opinion the safer option. That way his friends wouldn't be able to ask him weird questions.
"I have one!," Mark announced in no time after he had answered, all heads turning to look at him.
"Spill it," Jaemin pushed him curiously, mirroring the way the rest of them were feeling as they didn't know what Mark's dare would look like.
"Alright, so..," Mark began, the way he was stretching the whole thing making Jeno frustrated.
"Jeno has to let Donghyuck sit on his lap for 5 minutes," Mark said, not batting an eye.
"What!?," Jeno yelled, then realizing he was reacting in a very strange way.
"Why are you so shocked about this? You used to share a lot more skin-ship in the past," Jaemin commented confused but amused at the same time.
"True," Renjun agreed, though he of course knew why. Renjun definitely hadn't expected this. He didn't know if he should be happy for Jeno or not. And he was very suspicious of Mark. Something was obviously the matter.
Jeno in the meantime repeated his friend's words in his head. They were right about the skin-ship thing. Him and Donghyuck had actually been pretty clingy at some point of their friendship.
"When did that change?," he wondered and thought back trying to identify the moment their way of sharing body-contact had switched.
"It had been about a year ago," he concluded. "When...Donghyuck received his soulmate tattoo."
Since then Donghyuck had avoided physical interactions. As Jeno was thinking about it, he even remembered feeling down about this at the beginning. But as time passed by he had gotten used to it and only now, when Jaemin mentioned it, again became aware of how they had grown apart concerning that aspect. He had always assumed that it had been because of Mark, considering the timing. The absurd thing at the moment was that-Jeno realized- Mark was giving him a dare that was encouraging him sharing skin-ship with his boyfriend?!
Donghyuck on the other hand hadn't processed what Mark had just said either. There was no way he told Jeno to let Donghyuck sit on his lap?! Yes, they did have a talk before but he didn't imagine Mark would act like that. Still, a bit dazedly, he stood up and approached Jeno who also seemed slightly out of it.
"Uh, may I?," he asked cautiously, finding the situation incredibly flustering.
"Ah, yeah..," Jeno spoke in a hushed way, not being able to directly look at the other who was slowly crouching down, Jeno quickly adjusting his position so that he was sitting cross-legged, enabling Donghyuck to sit more conveniently like that.
As Donghyuck made himself comfortable on his lap, Jeno breathed in, the proximity making him go crazy. He could smell Donghyuck, his peach shampoo, could see him breathing in and out and feel his warmth.
When Donghyuck leaned back, touching Jeno's chest with his shoulders and turning around to mutter a "Is that okay for you?", his face inches away from Jeno's, his soul almost left his body.
His vision was restricted, all he could see was the movement of Donghyuck shoulders every time he breathed in or out. All he could feel was Donghyuck against his body. All he could hear was his own heartbeat.
All Donghyuck could feel was Jeno's heartbeat against his back, and himself heating up.
Sorry for the delay, I've been kinda busy these days. Anyways, thank you for reading! (And excuse my non-existent creativeness when it comes to my author's note TT).
