Eyes don't lie

Lying on one of the mattresses the friends had scattered all over the floor of the living room, Jeno couldn't sleep. The boy was full from all the snacks they had shared while watching a film before and also couldn't stop thinking about how Donghyuck had been sitting on his lap. His crush had been..so warm. And it hadn't been uncomfortable at all having his weight onto him. Jeno had enjoyed having Donghyuck so near, he had missed it. When he recalled how Donghyuck had stayed onto his lap until the moment they started to get the film ready, much longer than he originally needed too, he wanted to scream out of excitement. He couldn't believe it had actually happened.
Feeling too awakened to assume that he would be able to sleep in the next hours, Jeno cautiously stood up, trying to make as few sounds as he could in order to not wake the others. Luckily he hadn't been covered by a blanket as he always got very hot sleeping with one during the summer and like that could avoid making rustling noises. Carefully he made his way out of the room and quietly hurried into the kitchen where he precisely opened the door that lead to the terrace and garden of Mark's house. Stepping out onto the terrace, he was greeted with warm summer night's air, smelling of freshly mowed grass. Jeno loved that smell and the atmosphere of a night in summer.
Some grasshoppers were making sounds and he swore he also heard an owl. As Mark lived in a suburb near the city, that was a valid possibility. The oldest came to school by subway every day because his parents wanted him to go to one with good English courses. Donghyuck's dad who worked at the same company as Mark's mom and like that also were friends had recommended them the high school they later on would send their son Donghyuck to. That way both boys already knew and befriended each other when they were kids since Mark had been living in Korea from the age of 9.
Jeno liked meeting up at Mark's house. Here he could enjoy the calmness of nature, a welcoming change from the busy life of living in a big city. Plus he could better focus on his thoughts, those hours outside with no disturbance helped him figure his own problems out in a more rational way. For most part of course because sometimes everyone, Jeno too, tends to intentionally think irrationally, wanting it that way, too scared about or dissatisfied with what rationality and reality would give them.
Sitting down on the edge of the terrace, Jeno dreamily looked up the sky, in search for any stars. One he could spot easily, he had discovered it a while ago, when he and Donghyuck had done star gazing in Mark's yard while the others had been asleep. Somehow Jeno had always had difficulties with sleeping somewhere else than the comfort of his bed, that's why Donghyuck, too hyper after having had gulped down coke until 12 pm that night, decided to stay up with him to watch the stars. It was a treasured memory of Jeno, which he was reminded of every time he saw that one specific star.
Hearing a sound coming from the terrace door, Jeno jolted and instinctively turned around, staring at whoever had broken his silent hours. Next to the now opened door stand Mark, looking disheveled and slightly disorientated. As he was neither wearing his glasses nor contact lenses, he squinted his eyes at Jeno, mumbling a "Is that you, Jeno?",who cracked up in the quietest way possible at that after having had recovered from the mini heart attack the sudden noise had given him. Mark chuckled, placing himself next to Jeno.
"So it was you, huh," he commented amusedly.
"Can't sleep again?," he asked, as all of the friends knew of Jeno's trouble with that.
"Mhm, but what are you doing here?," Jeno wanted to know.
"Couldn't sleep either, you know, too many thoughts in my head," Mark explained casually.
