(The final chapter)
"Hurry up, I really need to cool down in the water," Jaemin yelled from where he and Renjun were leading the way far ahead as a result of the youngest impatience.
"Yesss, we're coming", Donghyuck meant half-heartedly as him, Mark and Jeno went after the other two.
The friends were currently walking towards the lake they hung out last summer. Today was a scorching hot day for September, perfect to go swimming. It had been Jaemin's idea but having to cope with him constantly pushing them to speed up under the barely bearable hotness of the sun made them regret it slightly.
At the sight of the lake glittering due to the rays of sunlight hitting its surface reflecting the color of the sky the three changed their mind a bit though. The scenery looked straight out of a painting, so unreal.
"Whoa, the view is stunning," Donghyuck exclaimed amazedly, making Jeno chuckle from where he had stopped next to him because he looked so cute the way he admired the nature.
Meanwhile, Renjun and Jaemin were already preparing to dive in, in the process of putting suncream on each other's backs. That made the remaining three place their stuff into the grass and starting to undress too, having worn their swimming trunks prior to coming there in order to make changing less complicated.
"Donghyuck, could you help me apply suncream on my back?," Mark asked, giving him the pack of cream before the other had even answered.
"Sure," Donghyuck replied neutrally and started to spread the thick liquid on Mark's skin, Jeno watching from the side.
The monotonous expression visible on his face made Mark and Donghyuck as well crack up as Donghyuck continued, their reaction finally also getting Jeno to laugh. Mark had started to tease the two couples in the group with actions like those, maybe as some sort of revenge for having to witness their lovey-dovey moments all the time.
It was amusing honestly, as they all knew Mark was only joking but what Donghyuck found even more funny was the way Jeno still got a tiny bit jealous every now and then- of course not seriously. But he openly showed the affection and love he possessed for Donghyuck, thus he acted sulky sometimes when Mark tested his patience .
"Now me," he said, turning around so that Donghyuck could also put cream on him, which he did, stepping behind Jeno a little too close, much closer than he had stood behind Mark as he moved his hands smoothly over Jeno's back. They changed roles and soon both were save from sunburns, giggling as they moved to the water hand in hand.
Only going in with their feet at first, Jeno pretended to push Donghyuck in but saved him from actually falling by pulling him into an embrace, making Donghyuck curse before they both broke out in a fit of laughter. Then the younger boy actually splashed water onto Jeno, the two ending up in a fight for a while, resulting in them letting themselves fall into the lake and starting to swim slowly until they reached the other three.
These were silently floating around, enjoying the freshness of the water. As their chaotic energy didn't seem to match the other's peaceful atmosphere, they retreated a bit, resting about 20 meters away from them.
Jeno caged Donghyuck against his body, the younger's back against his torso. Both of them didn't converse for a moment, taking in the coldness of the water surrounding them. Soon Donghyuck released himself from Jeno's hold, making a 180 degree turn so that he was facing the older. He then placed his arms around Jeno's neck, watching him wordlessly. Jeno stared at Donghyuck's wet lashes, overwhelmed by the other's beauty, and pulled him even closer, his hands resting on Donghyuck's hips, their faces barely away from each other.
