Chapter 23

Athena

After I left Jacks pack, I warned my people of the dangers we will be facing. I told them how we would start training tomorrow with the Sliver Moon pack. Thankfully my people always had my back and they were delighted to help.

After I finished up with everything, I headed back home. I took my clothes off until I was just in my bra and underwear. I placed my clothes in the dirty hamper and walked to the restroom. I washed my face and looked at my reflection in the mirror.

Everything was going so well, why did he have to come back. I can't let them take me. I have to keep my people safe from him.

As I was lost in thought until I heard a knock on my door. I looked at the clock and it was close to midnight. Who's up this late?

Before I could put my PJs on, my door swung open. I quickly see that it's Jack and he was just standing there wearing only a pair of shorts. His body was sweaty, like he just came back from a run. I looked down at his leg and I saw it was bleeding again.
   

"Jack? What are you doing here?" I asked confused. He was staring at the floor and I felt that his wolf angry for some reason. "Is everything ok?" I ask.
   

Without saying a word he walked into my room. I closed the door behind him and I saw him pacing side to side. He looked like something was bothering him and I started to get worried.

I didn't say anything else, just kept looking at him. I didn't know what to say, so I just waited for him to talk. I probably stood there for a few minutes until he finally spoke.

"When you and Cole were dating did he...." He didn't finish his sentence. Although I didn't need him to finish to understand what he meant.
    "No, he never touched me, we only kissed." I reply back.
    "You said he treated you amazing. Did you...did you love him?" I heard the hurt in his voice as he spoke. I didn't know if he actually wanted to know the answer to that question. I couldn't lie to him, not to my mate
   

"Yes." I say quietly and his eyes darted to me. I did love Cole back then, he treated me very well and took care of me. I was young back then, I didn't know what I was getting into.

Jack turned to me, but instead of seeing his sweet blue eyes that made me fall for him each time. I only saw rage and a flash of gold, indicating his wolf was at the surface. I never seen Jack this way, honestly it scared me to see him so angry.
   

"Do you still love him." He asked, taking a step closer. My heart felt like it stopped, I couldn't believe what he was saying.
    "Of course not. How could I still love him after what he put me through. He is nothing but evil, and only wants to seek power."

Jacks expression doesn't change. I don't know if he believes me or not. You'd think he'd know with our bond, but he's so clouded by anger, I don't think he can even tell.

He starts walking my way and the closer he got, the more I backed away. I didn't know what he wanted, but all I knew was that I was scared of the person I saw in front of me. I took another step back and hit the door behind me. Now I couldn't go anywhere. He continues to walk to me until he's only a few inches away from me.
   

His body only screamed Alpha and it felt like I had to obey to anything he said. I lowered my head as a sign of submission, even me as an Alpha, I didn't want to disrespect him. I never realized how strong Jack was until today. With every breath he took, I could see his muscles expanding and the vain's popping out.

He lifted my head with his hand, I didn't want to fight him, my wolf only wanted to obey her Alpha and mate. I slowly looked up and realized his eyes have changed again. They were no longer clouded by anger, only lust. His wolf was still at the surface, wanting to come out.
