Chapter 36

I couldn't believe what was happening, one second Cole was pinned to the ground, and the next he was running towards us. He came at me so fast, I didn't even have time to shift.

The only thing running in my head was to protect Athena. I was prepared to die to protect her, but just as Cole was about to strike, Izzy ran in front of me and Cole pierced her chest with his claws. I was about to shift to attack him, when Athena threw him across the field with her flames.

   
I watched as my mate was trying to stop the bleeding, but the wound was to big. I watched as she acted so strong and determined to save her dear friend, even though there was no fixing that type of wound.

Athena looked like she was going into shock, seeing her friend dying in front of her. I was about to tell Athena that it was too late, but then I felt a dark chill run down my spine. My wolf warned me to stay away from her and what ever I do, don't get in her way.

Athena was about to shift to her dark form, but this felt different from the other time. She gently placed Izzys hand on her chest and slowly got up. Athena's claws started to grow and her finger tips turned black. The wind pushed her white hair away from her face and her fangs were out and larger then last time. She looked down at Izzy once more and slowly made her way to Cole.

He already shifted back to his human form and stood in-front of Athena completely naked
"Athena join my side, rule the world next to me as my queen." He say.

I wanted to go over there and rip his head off, but I just stood there, waiting to see what Athena would do or say next.
"I already am a Queen. The Queen of darkness." She says.

   
She quickly puts her hand around Coles neck and lifts him up in the air. He starts to struggle in her grasp, but she just squeezes tighter. Cole tries to shift into his wolf, but fails. Fire starts spewing out of her hand, causing Cole to light up in flames. He tries to muffle out a scream, but Athenas grip was too tight that it comes off as a whisper. Then she snaps his neck and his body falls limp. She lets go and his burning body falls to the floor.

She begins to walk over to Izzy and takes a seat next to her. Izzy was close to dying, her breathing has gone shallow and her skin had turned grey. She slowly opens her eyes to see Athena and gives her a weak smile.

"Your a badass, its a shame I won't be there to meet your baby. Tell him or her that I love them very much." She says.
Athena gives her a soft smile. "No...you can tell him yourself."

She places her hand on Izzys wound and blue flames surround her body. I watched as Izzys wound start to close up and her color returning to normal. The flames disappeared and Izzy slowly sit up looking at her chest where her wound once was. She was completely healed and the only thing left was a scar.

    
"Izzy?" James says, looking at her in shock. He then pulls her in for a hug. "I thought....I felt your wolf dying, I thought I lost you." He cries.
"I'm ok, thanks to Athena." She says.
"Thank you.......thank you for saving her." He says.
"She's my sister. I'll do anything for her." Athena smiles.

She gets up to give them some space and walks towards me. She stops a few feet way from me, looking unsure about what I would say to her. I grabbed her shoulders and pulled her into my arms.

"I love you so much." I say and feel her body shift back to normal.
"I thought you would be scared of me."
"How could I ever be scared of the women I love."

She buries her face into my chest and takes a deep breath in, "I love you so much Jack. You are the reason I'm here right now. You saved me from the darkness."

I lay my head on hers and inhale her scent, "You saved me too my love. You showed our pack how to live again. You helped us regain who we once were and for that I'm forever grateful to you." I say.

We killed all of Coles followers. We found more of the tea boxes in their basement and decided to set the place on fire. By the time we were done with the clean up, the sun had already risen.

We looked at the burning building, watching its flames tear it down. I looked at Athena who was standing right next to me, she had a calm look on her face and watched the building burn down. I still don't know what her plans were for her and her demon. It looked like she had full control of it when she was attacking Cole, but whatever her choice is, I will support her either way. We were all wrong for underestimating her, she has a strong will to keep people safe. I took her hand in mine and she looked up at me. I give her a soft smile and we start to head back home.

The sun had set by the time we got back to the Rose Mountain Pack. I saw my mom waiting with the our pack and she comes running our way. She immediately give Athena a big hug and Athena looked shocked, but then gave in and hugged her back.

"I'm so happy your ok." My mother says. She sniffs Athena and quickly pulls away, "Your Pregnant!" She shouts and Athena nods her head and smiles. My mom jumps for joy and gives me a hug as well.

"Alright mom, my mate needs to rest now, she's had a long night." I say.
"Your right hun, why don't you go take her to rest." My mother says.

    
I take Athena to her room and get her under the covers. I take a step back and Athena quickly grabs my arm.
"Your staying right?" She says looking scared.
I hold her hand and kiss it. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm just gonna take my clothes off." I say.

She slowly lets go of my arm and I begin to take my clothes off.
I climb into bed with her and pull her into my arms. She places her head on my chest and quickly falls a sleep. I hold her even tighter, taking in her scent and slowly drift off to sleep as well.
