JUST MY LUCK. I may have been running late after Miguel and I's little meeting, but I was only two minutes late. The asshole I was supposed to be meeting was an hour.

Safe to say he won't be coming any time soon. As if this night couldn't get any worse, it was raining. I don't drive or swing in the rain. So, I had to resort to my only option.

Miguel.

Groaning, I sigh as I call him. It rings for a few seconds before he picks up.

"Hello?" He says.

"Hey, Miguel—"

"Hey, baby," his deep chuckle sent shivers down my spine as he recognizes my voice, "What are you doing calling me? Aren't you on your date?"

The last word came out oddly bitter, but I ignored it.

"If you let me finish, I would've told you," I rolled my eyes, even if he couldn't see.

"Pérdon, amor, continue."

I took a deep breath, ignoring the heightened beating of my chest. I readjusted my standing, leaning on one hip as I stared at the view. "Look, can you pick me up?"

"Yeah, of course," I could hear slight rummaging in the background, "Are you okay? I told you to be careful, Y/N."

"I'm fine," I calm him down, "I just— I need you."

We both pause, my words striking a chord in mine— and maybe even his heart too.

"—to come pick me up..." I pretend to finish my sentence, clearing my throat awkwardly, "When do you think you can be here?"

"I'll be there in ten," I hear the start of his car in the background.

"The drive is twenty minutes..." I say, my eyebrows furrowed as I shiver, trying to conceal the shake in my voice.

"I know. Don't move, Y/N, okay?"

"Okay," I whisper, "See you, Migs."

"See you."

I hung up, my grasp on my phone a million times harder. I shiver, groaning as I see the rain hit the ground even harder. But even though the rain seemingly turned out bad, and the day went to crap, I still have this unexplainable happiness pouring through me, knowing Miguel would be here soon.

After exactly ten minutes, I see Miguel pull up in his car. Almost immediately, he comes over to me, putting jacket over my head, rushing me into the car.

I thank him as I get in, sighing in relief once I feel the hot air from the heater hit my skin.

He comes inside a few seconds later, "Wanna tell me what happened?"

He begins to drive back to HQ.

I shrug, staring out the window as I listen to the rain patter against the window and roof of the car. "Jerk stood me up. That's all."

He nods and I see his adam's apple bob as he swallows hard, "And what's this Jerk's name?"

My eyebrows furrowed as I turn to him. His jaw his clenched and so are his hands around the steering wheel. Oddly, the sight does something to me and I have to repress the shiver that tried to come forth. "Why?"

"I'd like to know who I'm killing before doing the act."

My heartbeat quickens for a quick second.

Weird.

I roll my eyes, scoffing. I cross my arms and look back out the window, "You're not going to kill him."

He scoffed, braking harshly before taking a swift turn. He puts his arm over my body, making sure I don't propel forward.
