Jake's POV

I should have walked the other way as soon as I saw them, but my feet had a mind of their own. Before I knew what was happening or had a chance to talk myself out of the absurd idea, I was standing behind her.

I’m drawn to her. From the moment I met her at the cafe, her aura and generosity were like a breath of fresh air.  People like her were rare to find in this age and time.

So imagine the shock when I saw her in my class weeks later; the last place I thought I would find her. The way she smiled at me warmed parts of me I had forgotten existed, but being her instructor at campus meant I had to keep my distance. But that was becoming harder and harder to do.

But the little minx wasn’t making it any easier. When I heard about the bet, I was intrigued to see who was the ringleader of this gambling match. I don’t know who I was expecting, but certainly not Mocha.

It caught me off guard that she believed so much in me, yet she didn't know me. Don't get me wrong, I was flattered that Amara's money was on me from the very beginning of the competition, but I was also annoyed that students could do such a thing.

From that day on, I felt more drawn to her and this annoyed me to no end. I couldn’t understand it and you know what they say about unknown things? People hate and fear the unknown. Is that even a quote?

I wasn't expecting to see her until our class later this week, so seeing her tonight threw me off. Even worse, my little sister witnessed our little interaction, and Jemma wasn’t going to let such an opportunity pass her by. She was wicked and enjoyed putting me on the spot.

“What's going on in that big head of yours?" she asked, proving me right.

“Nothing, I just had a long day.”

“If you say so…Does it have to do with those girls at the store? Or should I say ‘girl’?”

Jemma was my youngest sibling. Our parents’ last born meaning she was as spoilt as they come; used to getting her way and everything she wanted. And she wasn’t about to let this issue go. She lived off gossip and being nosey. I’ll have to give her something to focus on before she runs off to tell the entire Adams’ clan about what she saw tonight.

“Can we go inside before bombarding me with twenty one questions?” I asked, parking the car.

“Such a killjoy!”

My mind replayed Amara's reaction when I told her she forgot sour gummy bears; it was priceless. I could tell that she was seething inside even though she smiled and took everything I threw at her.

Her demeanor was still a mystery to me, but if I was good at anything besides cooking, it was reading people. I should stay away from her, I mean she was practically the same age as Jemma. Too young. ,  Yet, I couldn’t stop thinking about her; her jet black hair and fresh coconut scent.

“Jake?” Jemma poked my ribs as I unlocked the door.

When my sister told me on Saturday that she was coming to London for a few days, I offered to let her stay with me instead of booking a hotel or going to our parent’s house. Now I regret it and she has only been here for a few hours.

I have lived in this apartment for the last three years and it still takes my breath away. When these apartments were opened to the public for renting and purchasing, I knew I had to get one. Not only are they beautiful inside, but they provide the best view of London.

"Jake?” She tried again, stomping her foot.

Such a child!

"Yes, Jemma?" I decided to play this mind game she wanted to play.
