Friday classes were hectic as we neared the end of the first term, less theoretical classes and more practical class with too many cook outs. When the final class was dismissed, I was burnt out and in need of a long shower before going to work.

We were thankful that we took the bus this morning instead of driving to school, but one person who wasn't thrilled by our decision was Sophie’s dad. "Do I want to even know how you know that I haven’t been driving to school, Papa?" she asked him.

After listening to whatever her father said she lost it completely, the calm Sophie I knew was out the window. "You keep asking why I chose London of all places, it's because of this very behavior!" she yelled and paused for a brief moment.

"It's time you accept that I'm not a small child and respect my decisions, Dad. Until you do, I'm afraid I won’t be setting my feet in Wales." She ended the call and slammed her bedroom door closed.

After getting ready for work, I knocked on her bedroom to let her know I was leaving and took notice of how puffy her eyes were from crying. I wanted to comfort her, but decided to give her space for a while.

I couldn't stop worrying about Sophie as I walked to the train station, wondering how I could help her. Besides Sophie, my mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Jake, I couldn't stop coming up with reasons why he wanted to see me.

Getting off the train, I rushed towards the restaurant with only a few minutes left to spare. I waved at the gentleman behind the host stand, who was standing in for Cathy while she was on leave. I frowned when he beckoned me to come closer to him instead of waving back.

"Mr. Adams wants to see you in his office.” He informed me.

“If I don’t come back in ten minutes, know that the big bad wolf has devoured me,” I joked and he chuckled.

“Hurry before the wolf fires you for being late.” He voiced and I looked at my phone to check the time.

“Thanks, enjoy the rest of your evening.” I said with a smile before walking past him and went to the locker room to change into my work uniform; a white long sleeved shirt and a black mid thigh skirt, that I paired it with black stockings. Placing my belongings in a locker I locked it before going to Jakes’' office.

I stood in front of his office, and took a deep breath before knocking on the door. His deep voice called me in and I slowly entered, taking it in. This was my first time here, he looked like the principal about to reprimand me for my behavior.

"You took your time to get here, Miss Scott."

I don't know what I was expecting when Jake told me to come to his office when I arrived, but this "Miss Scott" nonsense wasn't one of them.

"I'm sorry, I had to go change first.”

"I didn't hire you to flirt with my staff, Amara," Jake's voice boomed around the office.

“What? What’re you talking about?”

He turned the desktop so I could see what was on the screen and played me a video of myself  talking to the man behind the host stand with a small grin on my face while the man was laughing. “It’s right here on screen, so don’t try to deny it.”

"Excuse me? Who do you think I am? A slut that goes around kissing and flirting with random men?!" I raised my voice, angry that he dared question my morals.Yes, I didn’t mind harmless flirting, but that didn’t mean I go around flirting with every Tom, Dick and Harry!

Who gave him the right to question me, especially to accuse me of such deeds? It was clear that I gave him the wrong impression by allowing that kiss to take place.
