31. Unbreak My Heart

I love him! A laugh bubbled out of me, oh gosh I really do love this man.Was it love I have been feeling all this entire time? I thought it was just attraction I felt for him. When exactly did my feelings for him change? 

"What did you say?" Jake asked, suddenly standing in front of me.

"T-that I.. that-" 

The words I said a minute ago struggled to make it past my lips. He was standing too close to me, confusing me with his closeness. Did he have to stand so close? I could practically hear as he took a breath and as his heart beat so strong and loud.

"Say it again." he ordered moving forward and I took a step back.

"Stop coming closer," I whispered, my eyes staring at our feet.

"Why? Am I making you nervous Kitten, does my proximity make your blood rush to your head and mess with your senses?"

"Yes! You're confusing me, is that what you wanted to hear? You're presence in my life has messed up all my plans." I said pushing at his chest. 

"You came and made me start feeling things okay?!" I shouted, breathing heavily.

"There she is." He cooed with a smile on his face. "I love the fire I see in those beautiful eyes when you're angry and things aren't going your way."

Why did I have to fall in love with craziest man? Out of so many men in the world, I had to choose this one? 

"You're crazy Jacob!" 

"But you love me just like that?" 

"Yes! I do love you. I love how you make me feel, but it also scares me to death." I admitted.

"Say it again, please." He begged, bringing me closer to him-his hands holding my waist tightly as though afraid I would vanish.

"I am in love with you. I don't-"

"Shhhh, I want to see those eyes when you say it. Say it once more Kitten." He said, one of his hand caressing my cheek and lips.

Shaking my head I gave into this mad man's demands. "I love you Jacob!" 

"Do you want me to shout it on top of the rooftop, cause I will do it if it means you'll forgive me for my stupidity." I whispered, caressing his arms.

"There's nothing to forgive, I'm just happy to have you in my arms again. It still feels so surreal you know?"

Pulling him closer I hugged him, and listened to his heart beating fast in sync with mine. I missed being in his arms like this, putting my head in his chest and listening to his heartbeat. 

"No, I have to say this. I have been ignoring this for a while now." I voiced pulling away from the hug and he walked us to couch in his office.

"I ignored how I felt because my breakup with Alex was still so fresh in my mind and you coming into my life scared me. I think deep down I knew what I felt for you was stronger than anything I ever felt for any man and that meant the fall would hurt more.."

"Hey, look at me. I would never hurt you intentionally, I would rather die than break your heart," 

"I believe you," I whispered, kissing the corner of his mouth softly.

"If you're going to kiss me baby, do it like you mean it," Jake said, smirking and I pampered his face with wet kisses making him laugh.

"Let me show you what I wanted to do that day you were flirting with my staff downstairs."
