"You know he's back?" Nick looked at Sand with wide eyes.

"He was in Yolo. But how come you know?" Boston, Nick and Sand sat together at the small table outside the kitchen. It had been three days since Ray had turned up at Yolo.

"He was here. We sent him away, thought you didn't want to know about him." Boston muttered, taking a bite of his sausage.

"I guess it's entirely up to me, isn't it?" Sand crossed his arms.

"We're not just going to give your ex your address now that you're finally feeling better." Nick confirmed Boston's statement.

"Okay, you got a point there." Sand ran a hand over his face. "It was really weird seeing him again. He looks so different and at the same time just like he used to."

"He has adapted your style." Boston grinned broadly at Sand. "He's done that before, remember?" Sand rolled his eyes.

"He can wear whatever he wants. It doesn't mean anything."

"I'm just saying, just because you moved on doesn't mean he has." Boston took another bite. "I mean, remember what Mew told you. If my friend falls for someone he falls hard. And best believe Mew knows what he's talking about."

"Can we not talk about that? I doubt we will get close again. I am happy with Summer. And our circle of friends doesn't overlap anyway." Sand felt uncomfortable, he knew that he would ultimately be drawn to Ray and he really didn't want that to happen. For his own sake and that of Summer.

"So how's your work going?" Nick changed the topic. Sand told them about the small record store he was working at and how he brought up the idea of making a section for vintage shirts, which would draw more customers in.

"That's such a great idea. Maybe I'll drop by sometime, I heard the coffee at the Café there is really good." Nick smiled at Sand.

"I would love that. I'll make you the best coffee I promise."

"Sand, I'm home." Summer put the groceries on the floor, took off her jacket and hung her key in the key box. "Sand?"

"I'm here." Sand came out of the bedroom, wearing boxer shorts and a white tank top. Summer gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Will you help me put the stuff in the fridge?" Sand took the bags and brought the groceries into the kitchen. "Do you have to go to Yolo tonight? I have to study, I'm afraid, so I can't come." Sand pulled Summer into his arms.

"I can cancel on Yo, and we'll have a nice evening." He kissed her cheek and buried his nose in the crook of her neck. Summer laughed.

"Sand stop it. You can't just leave Yo hanging like that." She broke free from Sand's embrace.

"I'm serious, I can really say I'm not coming. Yo can do without me for one night." Summer eyed Sand.

"It's all right." She put a hand on his cheek. "Something's bothering you. You've been in such a strange mood all week. Has something happened?" Sand's heart began to beat faster. He took a deep breath.

"Ray's back." His voice trembled slightly as he said the words, and judging by the look on his girlfriend's face, she hadn't missed that detail.

"Ray's back?" Summer took her hand from Sand's cheek. "Why didn't you tell me?" Concern was reflected in Summer's face. "Are you okay? Is everything alright?" She took his hand and stroked the back of it gently. Sand nodded. Was he okay? He didn't know himself.

"I think so. It was just a strange situation and not exactly the best reunion." They sat down together on two stools at the kitchen counter.

"What do you mean?" Sand took a glass and poured himself some water. Then he told Summer about the evening, or at least about everything he could remember.
