"Black it's nice to see you old friend."
"Hello, Todd." The name tasted bitter on Black's tongue.
"Missed me?" A cheeky remark, shortly after waking up from a 3-year coma.
"Can't say I did." Black crossed his arms in front of the chest.
"Take a seat, don't stand around looking like a lost puppy." Todd pointed to a chair next to his bed. He eyed the other as Black sat down on the chair. "You look different."
"People change in three years." Todd nodded.
"That's right. People change in three years." Todd adjusted his body. "How have you been?" Black looked up scanning the other's face to see if there was a glimpse of his true intentions.
"What do you want from me, Todd?" An innocent expression spread on Todd's face.
"Why do you think I want something from you? Am I not allowed to ask how my old friend is going?"
"Cut the bullshit. Stop playing." Black stood up coming close to Todd's Face. "What do you want from me?" Todd grinned, he licked his lips, eyeing the other up and down.
"Still hot-headed huh?" He remarked. Black grabbed the other by his hospital gown.
"If you don't want to sleep for another three years, you better tell me what you want." He growled.
"Nothing my dear Black. Why are you so agitated?"
"You can shove that smug smile up your ass, Todd, honestly." Todd laughed.
"Watch your language, Black. We're in a hospital. And besides, you better treat me right if you don't want to be sued."
"I don't know what to do, Ray. It's been days and I'm getting desperate. There's something wrong with this whole story." Ray bit his lower lip lost in thought.
"What exactly is wrong?" He asked. Black lit a cigarette and inhaled the smoke greedily.
"He was so fit, didn't look emaciated, and could think clearly." He thought for a moment. "After three years in a coma, shouldn't he be in a vegetative state? He shouldn't be able to threaten me or even sit and walk." Ray frowned and also lit a cigarette.
"What does he want from you?" Black closed his eyes briefly to catch his breath.
"I wish I knew. Ray, I have no idea." The conversation was interrupted by the ringtone of Ray's phone.
"Hey...yeah I know...I'm still at the hostel...yeah I'll be there soon I promise...love you too...see you later."
"Sand?" Black asked with a broad grin. Ray nodded. "You guys are disgustingly cute, you know that?" Ray rolled his eyes.
"I've got an hour before Sand calls again. So what do you want to do about Todd?"
"You're late." Sand must have been asleep on the sofa because he was stretching and yawning when Ray came in the door.
"I'm sorry, I got held up at the hostel," Ray mumbled as he took off his clothes. Sand sat up.
"Shall we watch a movie?" Ray shook his head.
"I'm so tired. But I have nothing against cuddling to fall asleep." Ray said and stretched out his arms to Sand. "Are you coming to bed with me?" A smile spread across Sand's lips as he pulled Ray into his arms.
"I've missed you," he murmured.
"I missed you, too."
Sand was happy, very happy in fact. The relationship with Ray went smoothly as if no time had passed, yet he realized how much both of them had changed. Ray was calmer and less impulsive, but he still had his bad days. Sand had stopped drinking for the most part, even though Ray had told him it was fine. But Sand didn't want to trigger his boyfriend, and his body would also be grateful.
