"Fuck off." Sand shouted. He threw everything he could get his hands on at Ray, who let Sand have his way. "You fucking asshole, what are you even doing here? Who let you in?" He threw another pillow at Ray. "You know what, I don't even want to know. Just go." Ray let Sand insult and shout at him, he hadn't expected anything else. Sand ran to the door and was about to open it when he realized it was locked. "What the fuck now? Where's the fucking key?"
"Nick's got it." Sand gave Ray a look like he was about to kill him.
"Why does Nick have the key?" Sand crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Are you all completely out of your mind?"
"Sand." Ray had stood up and taken a step towards the other. "We're not out of our mind, we're worried about you."
"Worried my ass! You've lost all right to worry about me. You are the worst, Ray. Always destroying everything." The words hurt, they were words that Ray had not heard from Sand for the first time, and yet they hurt even more than before.
"Sand, I've had enough. I've been through the same hell as you for the last few weeks. If someone had told me about your condition earlier, I would have come to you sooner. But this isn't about me right now." Ray had to take a breath. "Your friends are worried about you, I'm worried about you. Don't you realize that you're losing your whole essence?"
"It's my fucking life, I can do what I fucking want and none of you have any business interfering. And you are the last person I want to see right now." Shouted Sand. He was frustrated, wanting nothing more than to drink, pop a Xanax, and turn off all feelings. "You guys suck, all of you. Let me the fuck out of my apartment." Sand grabbed Ray by the collar of his shirt. "I swear Ray, let me out or you'll regret it." Ray swallowed hard, he didn't know Sand like this, and yet there stood the person he loved more than anything in the world in front of him.
"No, I won't." He said calmly. Sand lashed out with his fist, about to smash it into the other man's face, but something inside him stopped him from hurting Ray.
"Fuck." Sand let go of Ray's collar and tussled his hair frantically, "Fuck, fucking hell." He cursed and began to search obsessively for something.
"You're not going to find it." Ray had sat down at the kitchen table and lit a cigarette. "I flushed everything I found down the toilet." He knew this was the wrong approach, a cold withdrawal was never the best idea, but Ray knew it was the best chance for Sand to get clean again.
"Ray, I swear to you, if you don't want to die, you better fuck off now." Sand took a look in his eyes that Ray had never seen before, and he felt a little fear rising in him that Sand might be serious about this threat. But he tried not to let it show.
"It's for your good." He said as calmly as he could.
"For my...for my good? You're all tired of life, huh? I'm an adult, damn it, I can decide for myself." Sand ruffled his hair again and then went to his pants, pulled out his phone, and dialed Nick's number.
