It had become dark. In Sand's apartment as well didn't shine a single light, except for the red glow of Sand's cigarette. He was sitting at the kitchen table, smoking one after another, and waited, waiting for Ray to come home. He didn't know what he would do if Ray came home. At that moment he felt empty, just empty. Sand had no feeling left in him, no tears, no anger, there was just a black hole inside him.

It was almost 11 p.m. when Sand heard the key in the door. He waited, waited until Ray had taken off his shoes and hung his jacket on the coat rack. Sand waited to see if Ray would notice him. Of course, he would, the apartment reeked of smoke, he never smoked in the apartment.

"Sand?" Ray looked around the apartment in confusion, switched on the light, and flinched a little at the sight that presented itself to him. Sand stared emotionlessly at the ashtray in front of him, which was almost overflowing. "What the hell is going on? Is everything all right?" Ray sat down at the table with Sand and tried to reach for the other man's hand. But Sand pulled his hand away.

"Where have you been?" Sand asked, taking a drag on his cigarette and putting on a smile. Ray looked at him a confused expression reflecting on his face.

"At the hostel, I told you that."

"Aren't you forgetting something?" Sand tilted his head and exhaled the cigarette smoke.

"Forgetting something?" Ray pondered. "What have I forgotten?" Sand took a deep breath.

"Oh, nothing. What were you doing at the hostel?" Sand asked.

"Sand, what are you doing now?" Ray crossed his arms in front of his chest. "What am I supposed to have done there? Taken care of a few things." He now lit a cigarette too.

"Do these things have names?" Sand leaned back in his chair, arms crossed in front of his chest.

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

"I want an answer, Ray. Did those things have a name?" Ray swallowed.

"Black." Ray stared at the ashtray.

"Say it again."

"Black...I was seeing Black."

"And for what?" Sand could feel the anger beginning to boil inside him, it took all his strength not to punch the other man in the face.

"I can't tell you that." Ray still had his eyes on the ashtray, his voice trembling.

"Can't tell me or don't want to tell me?"

"I can't, Sand please, believe me." Ray stubbed out the cigarette and tried to reach for Sand's hand again.

"And why can't you? What is the big secret you're hiding? Are you on drugs again?"

"Are you completely stupid?" Ray pulled his hands back. "Are you crazy to accuse me of something like that?"

"If it's not drugs, then you're fucking him, right?" Sand felt like every calm in him had given up, he couldn't hold back his anger. Ray stood up, tears gathering in his eyes.

"Do you think I could do this? I haven't suffered like a dog for the last few years just to cheat on you." Sand had a look in his eyes that Ray had never seen in them before.

"I don't believe you, I don't believe a fucking word you say, Ray." Sand's voice was louder now.

"And what exactly do you want me to do now? How am I supposed to prove to you that I'm not fucking Black huh?"

"I don't know Ray. Just tell the damn truth."

"I'm telling the truth."

"I don't believe you."
