Mia

After school, I made my way downtown. I took a bus and would just wait until
I arrived somewhere. Anywhere that wasn't here.

I just need an escape. Maybe I could find a cute little book shop down here? It was only four o' clock. Maybe.

Who knew?
I got off the bus and would start walking. I put on my hoodie and my hair up in a claw clip in my hair.

I continued walking until I walked into sure enough, a book store. I automatically start looking around. I find a dark romance novel and automatically pick it up.

It was one I have been wanting for a while. It was about a young girl, getting ready to go into some type of war college, where she meets her enemy.

He stalks her, kills anyone who touches her, while trying to kill her. It was bad for my mental health, I know.

It just was my way of escaping reality.

As I make my way up to the counter, I pay for it. Then, I head out and to the nearest restaurant I find.

I was then taken over to a booth where I just sat and read my book, waiting for my waiter. I would then hear a male voice and look up to see him.

He gives me a warm smile that tells me he enjoys his job. He was in a white button up shirt and had black pants on. Dress codes am I right? I meet his eyes.

"Hey there. I'm Aj I'll be your server tonight. What can I get started to drink for you?" He asked and I am pretty sure my jaw is on the floor.

He was tall, had to be at least six-foot-four brunette, extremely attractive, and had a singular tattoo. There was no way he was older then me but, still older if that makes sense?

He had this energy to him and it was remarkable to feel such positivity coming off of someone.

"I'll just take a spicy chai, with oatmilk please?" He then nodded and gave me a smile.

"Anything else?" He asked me. "No thank you." I said to him.

"Just a question, how old are you?" He chuckled. "I just turned eighteen." I nodded. "I knew it." I put my hand out. "I'm Mia."

He shook it. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mia. I'll have that drink right out for you."

He said and moved to place the order in.
I just look down at my book.

Holy fucking shit.

Then he came back out and placed the chai infront of me. "Thank you." I said and nodded.

I then watched as he took the seat infront of me. "No problem. What are you reading?" He asked me.

"Just a fantasy novel about a girl in a war college and her enemy is madly in love with her." He smirked. He then checked the cover.

"I have that one. Honestly, not my personal favorite. I'm really big on illyrians." He said. I looked at him.

"What's that?"

"Well, it's basically a fae and a bat. I would be the main guy because he's extremely misunderstood. He is kind but has to play the bad guy in all sorts of scenarios. He rules over the night and he has two really good friends."

I just smile. "That does sound nice." I then start thinking of Jaeden and his friends and I pout without even realizing it. "What's wrong Mia?" I meet his eyes.

Brown but beautiful.
"Oh it's nothing. Do you mind writing that down?" I ask him and grab a pen holding it to him. He nodded. "Of course. You have to come back and see me for it though. None of my friends read so, it'd be nice to have someone to talk with about it." I nodded.

"I get that on a personal level." I said and would let him write down the title. "What time are you off?"

"I get off at ten." He said. That sucks. I had to be home soon. "Well, I have to get back to work but it was a pleasure meeting you, Mia. Let me know what you think?" And just like that, he was gone.
