[Y/n's PoV]

I walked out of the courtroom, fists clenched while trying to calm down the irritation that I'd felt from before. Fortunately, the court was adjourned and set to reconvene for further questioning.

Nigguang exited the room, simpering as she defeated me once more. Despite me being regarded as the best lawyer, she has managed to assess my cool.

“Maybe if you weren't so sentimental all the time, you'd have a chance— not like you will when I'm here.” Ningguang taunts.

“And? That concerns you how?” I asked her as if I'm irritated to even breath the same air as hers.

“Why, I'm just letting you know that your sentiments are so apparent. Even someone who's blind would be able to tell.”

She smirked, “Don't you think your pride needs a little more managing? I've beaten you twice already, is the defeat getting to you?”

She then tilted her head, “Or maybe, are you already thinking of a comeback?”

“....”

“I'd be lying if I said I didn't notice your behavior in the courtroom. The coldness, the hostility, it's clear that you're still upset at losing our previous battles.”

She looked over the rim of her glass and glanced at me, “No need to try so hard to bottle up your emotions. I can help you relieve some of the bitterness.”

Ningguang smirked and moved a strand of hair out of her face, “Are you ready for a... personal legal counseling?”

“Excuse me?”

Ningguang turn to face me fully, eyes narrowing a bit while still giving me a smirk.

“You heard. This is the reason why I've followed you to this isolated room.”

She then took a sip of her soda, savoring the taste as she slowly looked over me once more, “I know that deep inside of you, there's a resentment that needs to be addressed.”

She smirked, shifting her feet slightly, “Of course, in my job, we have to focus on facts and evidence. But as a woman to woman, I see through your cold demeanor. I know you want to let those repressed feelings out.”

“You're not the only lawyer with an eye for details. I've seen enough people like you before and I think it's not healthy to keep everything bottled up.”

I scoffed, “Oh I’m sorry. Was that supposed to be offending? The only thing offending me here, is your face.”

Even with my spiteful words, Ningguang didn't seem to mind the insult, but rather she let out a small chuckle as she took another sip of her soda.

“Don't get sassy with me, dear.”

She then leaned a bit closer to me and lowered her voice, “I know I was the one who won our past legal battles, but there's no need to put up a facade now.”

I couldn't help but just glared at her before grabbing my bag and was about to head towards the door but Nigguang stopped me.

“Why are you in a hurry? Don't be so quick to run away. It's not like we're in a courtroom now.”

She then placed a hand on my shoulder, “Or is this the reason why you're so tense now? You still think we're engaged in one of our legal battles?”

Tch, this girl...

Her smirk widened as she shifted her arms to my waist.

“Come on, we're just friends outside.”
