"Your highness..." Clorinde said as she carefully wash the scratch slowly on my cheek.

"You are lucky I found you in time."

Her normal voice suddenly grew stern, although there was an audible hint of concern in her tone. After all, she is my bodyguard, she was accountable for me as well as my safety.

Then, she heaved an extended sigh, her eyebrows furrowing just a little.

"Being a princess, you are doomed to greater danger than the commoners; you know that." she scolded me before tending the wound on my hand.

"Well, as long as I'm with you then there's nothing really to worry about, yes?" I asked with a bit of confidence in my voice.

"...Of course not," Clorinde responded, smiling softly as she continued bandaging my wounds.

"I am your devoted bodyguard, after all; I will do everything I can to keep you safe."

She then made quick work with the bandages. Once she was done, Clorinde let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"I am simply concerned because this is not the first time this has happened. What if I am not with you when assassins attempt to strike you down again?"

I remember her saying this words to me over and over again yet I didn't find it rather boring- this just shows that she's taking her own job seriously.

"Perhaps you should stop overthinking some things, Clorinde. They won't get their hands on me, okay? I trust you with my life." I exclaimed.

This made Clorinde looked taken aback by my words, although her surprise turned into a small smile. She nodded her head in response as her demeanor softened.

"I appreciate that." she said quietly, feeling the heat rise to her cheek.

"I will do my best to protect you. And you have my word, I will not let you out of my sight again."

"Although, I suppose I've become too overprotective." She chuckled nervously.

"No, I don't mind... and what's wrong with overprotecting something anyway?" I asked, clearly trying to boost up her mood.

"It's a flaw of mine." Clorinde admitted, although she didn't sound the least bit regretful.

Then, she smirked, glancing quickly at me before her attention darted elsewhere.

"You are my princess. And, well, I'm quite taken by you... so I tend to want to keep you to myself."

Her statement made me chuckle a bit before clasping my hands with hers.

"Of course, my knight."

"...As a matter of fact, I'd say that my obsession with you is quite unhealthy," Clorinde said with a wink as she leaned over to check the bandaging on my shoulder.

After that, she flashed a smile at me before straightening out again.

"How do you feel?" she asked, her voice sounding slightly sweet.

"Never been better. Thank you." I responded.

Before I was about to walk away, I remembered something I needed to do, and it was showing her my gratitude for saving my life plenty of times.

So, I lean in to give her a quick peck on the cheek and softly smiled at her.

"A small token of mine. Now, shall we head back?"

Clorinde's face turned beet red at the gesture. With a soft sigh, she nodded her head in response and smiled lovingly back at me.

"We shall." she responded softly, her voice almost a whisper.

Then, she gently took my hand and started guiding me back to the palace.
