High School

(You may be offended and that's OK)

High school was an amazing experience for me. I didn't really pay much attention to what happened outside of the band room (which was probably why I liked it so much), but that was normal for most of us band geeks. The people outside of band were mostly either one of two people. There were the preppy kids in a million different clubs that stand up in front of the class to promote some sort of fundraising that not many people were going to anyway. That group also has that one gay guy that is extremely overwhelming even in small doses. You all know one if you went to high school in a coastal state. Anyway, this preppy group is also either in the Associated Student Body (ASB) or friends with someone in it. ASB, from what I saw at least, was always the place book smart people went to be told they're smart and going places, but never told they came off as arrogant and self-righteous. The ASB president is the king/queen of this herd. They always have a snide smirk on their faces whenever they think they're better than somebody else and they usually feed on the letters of their report card. Don't worry. You won't see them long. They'll most likely go out of state because let's face it. NYU is where it's at (for them at least). Then again, they might be one of those politicians trying to "make a difference", but I believe most politicians are just comedians that didn't have enough wit to try comedy. That's enough of them though. There's also the second type of person. That person is the one who, for the life of them, can't get their shit together. Some try to get it together, but most don't even try. For some reason they're happier than the preppy crowd, but they somehow seem emptier to people like me. This gives them some sympathy from me, but that doesn't mean they don't annoy me either. They aren't as smart as the preps, but they do have street smarts. Given, they're most likely to end up at McDonald's, but they are stronger than people like me and the preps. They know how to work corners in ways we can't and still get the same results. Me changing a tire? Hell no. They're on it. They're the ones who get invited to more places than the preps because we aren't as intimidated by them. They're also somehow better looking than us which means more will be given to them. Work with what you have I guess. They aren't as arrogant as the preps, but they make up for it in narcissism. Whether people were in either the first or second group, watching them trip and fall was so much fun. My only regret of high school was that I wasn't able to see more of it. I'm not anti-people for liking seeing others get hurt, I'm just sadistic and I'm OK with that. Don't worry. I make sure they're fine afterwards.
