I'm Fine

So many of us know by now

To never say "I'm fine"

'Cause when a person says those words

We all look for a sign

Eye bags just a shade too dark

Smiles without crinkles

Hair that's greasy and unkempt

Clothes chock-full of wrinkles

So even when I'm feeling "fine"

I still just say "I'm good"

Flashing teeth and moving on

Just like I know I should

Because if you can't take the time

To really look at me

If you and I sit down to talk

And still you cannot see

Then I don't think that you should know

The troubles in my mind

Because I do not trust that you

Will still be quite so kind
