Nick's POV:

Help. me.

Me and Charlie kissed...but not how I planned it.

I look at Charlie and smile weakly, he smiles so I hug him again.

I'm pathetic.

Charlie's POV:

After a while of playing Mario Kart and eating snacks, I need to go to my Nana's house.

"I'll see you tomorrow? Wait- are you free later today?" Nick asks
"I'll ask!"
"Ok! I'll see you later!"
He opens the door. "Nick-" I grab his hand and pull him in front of me, I look around and make sure no-one is looking.

"I'm glad we're ok. I'm guessing you want to keep us a secret?" He does, I can tell.
"Yeah, just for the now. I just don't think I could come out as anything yet."
"That's okay!" I hug him and he leaves.

"It went well I'm guessing?" Tori says from behind me.
"Yeah...we may or may not be going out!" I smile and jump up and down.
"I knew he liked you! I'm happy for you, the both of you! I'm guessing Nick wants to be a secret."
"He's figuring things out just now!" Tori smiles and hugs me.
"Don't tell anyone, especially Mum and Dad." I mumble.
"I won't, don't worry!"

I'm looking out the window until Tori taps my shoulder.

"What?" I ask, snapping out of my daydream.
"Your phone has been buzzing for a solid 5 minutes, Charlie!" She says, almost catching Mum and Dad's attention.
"Sorry, I was zoned out."

I take my phone out of my jacket pocket and check my Instagram feed.

N- "Hey! Ik you said ur phone was almost dead but I wanted to know if you can go out later, I had an idea x
C- "I'm in the car rn so I'll ask in a few mins <3"
N- "Charlie, are you sure you're ok with us being a secret?"
C- "It's fine! I know what it's like to be out before you're ready lol"
N- "I don't know what I am, I've liked girls before but now I like you!"
C- "You like me?"
N- "Was that not obvious??"
C- "I'm such an idiot lmao"
N- "A cute idiot may I add!"
C- "Stop making me blush I'm with my family!! 🤭"
N- "It's my specialty 😘"
C- "MY SISTER IS NEXT TO ME!!!!"
N- "Welp, she knew about us anyway."
C- "BUT STILL!!!!! YOU CAN'T JUST FLIRT WITH ME AND THEN ACT LIKE NOTHING HAPPENEDDDDD! Oh btw I asked and my mum said yes surprisingly lol"
N- "YAYYYYY! I'll see you later 😘"
C- "STOP SENDING THAT EMOJI!!! 😭"
N- "Byeee! 😘"
C- "NICKKKKK!!!! STOPPPPPP!!!"

Tori looks at me and laughs.

"You read my messages, didn't you."
"Not saying I never!" She says, still laughing.
"What are you two laughing about?" Mum asks.
"Nothing!" Tori looks at me and I whisper "Thank you." in her ear.

On the drive home I get out my phone and text Nick.

C- "I'm driving home the now! I can't wait to see you!"
N- "Yayy! I miss you!!"
C- "It's only been a few hours!"
N- "I STILL MISS YOU THOUGH!!!"
C- "I'm just walking to my room right now lol"
N- "K! I'm on my way right now 💙"

I lay on my bed and watch TikTok for a while until I hear the door open and my sister saying, "He's just upstairs." As soon as I hear footsteps I bolt downstairs and there he is, Nick Nelson.
I run and give him a hug, he picks me up and I wrap my legs around his back. I notice Tori is looking at us.

"Right. Lovebirds, I'm heading to the shops, want to come?" She asks, I pull my head away from Nick's neck, my legs still around his back and my hands around his neck, we look at each other.
"Why?" I ask, not sure why she wants us to come.
"Because you know what Mum is like, she doesn't let any of us shut doors except her and Dad, not even me and I don't even get out of bed on the weekends!"
"Yeah, true." I look at Nick and he nods.
"Sure! We were going downtown anyway!" Nick says, smiling at me before I launch my head onto his shoulder.
Tori goes into the living room to tell Dad we're going into town, meanwhile, Nick carries me upstairs and puts me on my bed, he leans against the door frame and chuckles.
"I hate you."
"No, you like me!" He teases, walking towards me.
"Hmm, nope, I hate you."
"Is that so?" He asks, leaning over me.
"Y-Yeah!" I mumble, I'm blushing and he can tell.
"Well then, I guess we need to...Fight!" He grabs a pillow and hits me in the face. I do the same.
I pin him down and laugh, his hair is messy and his face is red, "I win."
"I guess so."
Before I can react he pulls me forward by my shirt and kisses me.

"GUYS HURRY UP!!!" I hear my sister shout from the hall.

"Oh god!" Nick laughs.
"IT'S NOT FUNNY NICK! MY HAIR IS A MESS!"
He continues laughing, I realise I'm still sitting on his lap.
"I'm glad you find this funny, Nicholas."
"I do find this funny, Charles."
I kiss him, he shuts up.
"I SWEAR TO GOD! HURRY UP OR I'M LEAVING WITHOUT YOU TWO!" Tori screams, I hear her walking upstairs.
"WE'RE COMING! GIVE US A MINUTE!" I yell, rushing to the mirror to fix my hair.
"CHARL- Oh, you're ready?" Tori asks.
"yep!"
"Come on then!" I look at Nick with puppy-eyes, he smiles and picks me up like earlier, he holds me tight and he carries me downstairs, and out the door behind Tori.

It's 2pm, me, Tori and Nick are sitting in a Greggs eating lunch.

"So, where to next?" Tori asks.
"Arcade?" Nick replies.
"Sure." Tori takes a sip of her diet lemonade.

They don't hate each other. That would've been awkward.

Nick offers to give me a piggyback, I immediately say yes and jump on his back.

When we find a booth next to the bowling we sit down and order drinks.

"Nick, Mate!" A boy yells.
"Who's that?" Tori whispers to Nick.
"Harry Greene." He answers back.

Harry sits next to us and a group appears behind him.

"Alright, Mate?" Harry asks.
"Fine." Nick scoffs and takes a sip of his cola.
"Charlie Spring?" Harry looks at me and laughs.
"Yes? What do you want Harry?" I say, looking at Nick as if he'd help me.
"No need to be rude, nerd."
"What did you just call him?" Tori snaps.
"A nerd?"
"Take it back."
I look at Tori and shake my head.
"Leave us alone, Harry." Nick yells.

Harry walks away with his group.

"You ok, Charlie?" Tori asks.
"Yeah! Are you?"
"I'm fine."

TW: Depression/Anxiety Attack

"I'm fine." I say to myself.

But I'm not fine.
And I will never be "Fine".
I am Charlie Spring, I can't be fine.
I will always hate myself.
And I can't stop that.
