I love you, Nick.

Time skip because I'm lazy- Monday

Nick's POV:

"Nicholas Luke Nelson! What is wrong with you!?" Brooke pushes me backwards.
"It was a dumb thing to do, I know!"
"A dumb thing!? Were you drunk!?"
"No, I was just tired."
"Being tired doesn't give you an excuse to hurt your boyfriend of 3 years!"
"Brooke, I'm-"

Connor walks in.

"Brooke, calm down." He steps towards us.
"No! He-"
"Brooke!"

She tries to storm out the room, but Connor yanks her back by the waist.

"You are not leaving this room until you've apologised and calmed down!"

She sits at my desk and turns away from me.

"Nick, are you ok?" Connor asks, taking a seat beside me.
"I don't know."
"Is Charlie ok?"
"I don't know."

He pats me on the back and pulls me towards him.

"Find out."

Maybe he's right.

Charlie's POV:

As me and Tao walk in the gates, I have to stop myself from walking back out.

"You'll be fine, ok?" He throws his arm over my shoulder.
"Mhm."
"You and Nick will be fine."
"Yep."

We walk into form and Mr. Farouk starts taking the register without even looking at us.

"I still can't believe I got moved into your form group!" Tao cheers.
"Yeah. Never knew they could do that."

Mr. Farouk looks up at us.

"Charlie Spring?"
"Here."

He gives me a questioning look, a look I know all too well.

I nod, saying I'm fine, but he doesn't believe that.

~~

Mr. Ajayi, Mr. Farouk and Coach Singh are sitting with me in the art room.

"Your sister phoned the school." Mr. Ajayi sits down beside me.
"Mm."
"Charlie-"

I look to the floor.

"Charlie, we're always here to talk to. Remember that." Mr. Farouk crosses his arms.
"I know. It's just..."

They give me time to continue, but I don't.

"Who are you living with?" Mr. Ajayi crouches down so he's at sitting level, meeting my eyes.
"Sarah Nelson."
"Nick Nelson's mum?" Coach Singh looks shocked.
"Mhm."
"That's good she's taken you in."
"Yeah."
"How is he? Still playing rugby?"
"Yeah...He broke his arm a few weeks ago, but he's ok now. He's got a match on Wednesday-"

I haven't told the school I won't be in on Wednesday and Sarah's at work early, so she won't have time!

"I'm guessing you're going to the game then?"
"Yeah, but it's in Paris."
"PARIS!? MY BOY'S PLAYING IN PARIS!?"
"Yeah, he left...yesterday morning."
"Our boy's playing in Paris..."

Our boy!?

"I don't know if I'll go."
She gasps, "How!?"
"Well, Christian, Otis and Sai got me a ticket, so I can go with them."
"Yeah?"
"But, me and Nick had a big argument on Saturday."
"You'll get over it."
"He blocked me."
"Uni changed him, huh."
"Maybe."

No, Uni hasn't changed him.

"Go to the game and when you do, you will show me proof as soon as you're back at school!"
"Fine."

~~

I'm sitting in Maths, when Headmaster Barnes walks into the room.

"Can I borrow you for a moment?" He asks our teacher.

They walk outside the room, leaving the door a tiny bit open, but not enough that you can hear them.

"Charlie Spring, can you come here for a minute?"

Oh, God.

I step out the classroom and Headmaster Barnes is telling me to follow him.

We walk downstairs, a few people giving me stares and whispering, before getting to his office.

He picks up a phone and gives me it.

The number is...Nick's!?

The phone starts to ring.

N-"Hello?"

It's actually him...

C-"Hey."

N-"Char, I'm so sorry for what I said to you! I didn't mean any of it! I've just been so stressed and tired and I just...I'm so sorry."

It's hard not to cry.

C-"Nick, it's fine."

N-"No, it's not! I'll make it up to you, I promise!"

C-"Nick, if you even think about coming down here-"

N-"I wasn't, but you've gave me an idea."

C-"Nick!"

N-"Fine. I'm sorry."

C-"It's fine. I love you, Nick."

N-"I love you more."

C-"I can't believe you phoned the school just to talk to talk to me."

N-"I wanted to apologise."

C-"Thank you."

N-"I love you too much not to apologise."

C-"And I love you too much not to accept your apology."

N-"Why are we like this?"

C-"No idea, Nick."

We talk for a while, but Mrs Singh walks in and notices us calling.

I take the phone away from my ear.

"Is that Nick?" She asks.
"Yeah. Want to talk to him?"

She smiles and I hand her the phone.

"So, Paris?"

"Charlie told me."

"Having fun?"

"Good. You deserve this."

"I'm proud of you, lad."

"I'll leave you to it."

She hands me the phone back and says I've got 2 minutes till P.E.

C-"Nick, I need to go. I'll phone you when I'm...home."

N-"Why'd you take a while to say "home"?"

C-"I'll tell you later."

N-"Love you, Char."

C-"Love you more."

N-"Nah."

C-"I love you more than anyone, actually."

N-"Cringe."

C-"Maybe so."

I love him more than anyone and he deserves to know that.
