Leslie adjusted Tomi in her arms as she continued to stare in the direction the ambulance had taken off in.
Dylan—-while holding onto Greyson and stroking his hair to comfort him—-looked over in the direction of Leslie. “Uh… thanks for calling the ambulance for my friend.” He sighed, lowering the tone of his voice. “Dammit… I'm gonna have to walk to the hospital. Fuck.” He grimaced.
Mycah looked over in Dylan's direction and eyed him. “What? Can you not drive?”
Dylan shook his head, still having the handles of Kara's duffle bag resting on his arm. “No. I can't.”
Sage looked over to Mycah before he could say anything else to Dylan. They snickered. “Well, Mycah… It seems like you both have that in common.”
Mycah looked to the ground, embarrassed. He hissed to Sage in a low tone, “Shh! Not in front of my demon!”
“Um,” Leslie began as she moved closer to Dylan as she looked at him. “My friends and I could give you a ride over there.”
Sage then looked over to Leslie with a look of ‘really’. They huffed.
Dylan looked over to Leslie. “Really? You'd do that?”
Sage sighed before they spoke up. “Yeah. We could drive you. We'd just need the directions to get there.”
“We're tourists,” Mycah added on.
“Okay uh…” Dylan began to reply. He nodded. “I'll give you the directions.”
“Come on,” Sage said as they headed over to their car, getting into the driver's seat.
Mycah followed closely behind Sage and got into the passenger seat.
Leslie got into the back, buckling herself and Tomi into their seatbelts.
Dylan got into the back as well, setting the duffle bag on the floor. He whispered to Greyson, “Alright, little Grey… There's no room for you to sit in your own seat so uh…” He sighed. “I'm gonna hold onto you tight… and I promise I won't let go.”
Leslie eyed Dylan. That's not very safe, she mentally commented about Dylan's decision to hold Greyson rather than putting him in a seatbelt.
Sage looked at Dylan and Greyson through the mirror and sighed. Then they looked in front of them once more and began to pull out of the parking lot.
“So, you're tourists, huh?” Dylan began, clearly trying to make conversation with the others in the vehicle who were strangers to him.
Mycah nodded from his position in the passenger seat. “Yep.”
“Where are you guys from?” Dylan asked as the car headed down the road—-he continued to use his arms as a protective barrier around Greyson. Then he said to Sage, “Turn left.”
“Alright.” Then Sage laughed a little as their hands continued to rest upon the steering wheel. “That's a funny question actually…” They sucked in a breath. “For me, Nottingham originally.”
Mycah then spoke up, “I was born in Koszalin, Poland… Just like one of my moms.” He leaned back against his seat. “...Other mom was from Toluca.”
Dylan raised an eyebrow at Mycah. “Mexico?”
“Mhm,” Mycah said to Dylan, nodding.
Dylan looked over to Leslie and Tomi.
“Byala…” Leslie began to respond. “In Bulgaria.”
“England, Poland, Bulgaria…” Dylan began as he looked away from Leslie. He quickly then gave Sage some more directions. “How'd you all meet?”
“We all grew up in the same town in Italy,” Mycah replied. “...near Iojetria…”
Dylan raised an eyebrow at that last part. “Iojetria?”
Mycah nodded. “Mhm.”
Dylan then asked, “Um… Are you guys witches?”
Mycah nodded yet again. “As witchy as they come… Especially goth girl in the backseat there.”
“Do…” Dylan stopped for a moment. Should I really ask?, he began to question himself. I mean, what are the odds? He decided to ask anyway. “...do you guys know a kid by the name of Nicolas Lieux?”
Mycah responded, “Yep. Met the kid recently… Apparently he was in bad shape when he got there but Lady Grim beside you fixed him up.”
Dylan looked over at Leslie once more, raising an eyebrow. “You fixed him up?”
Leslie nodded. “I did… I couldn't just leave him with a nasty gash in his forehead.”
As the group pulled into the parking lot of the hospital, Dylan asked, “Can I ask your names?”
Sage, Mycah, Dylan, Greyson, Leslie and Tomi got out of the car.
Dylan picked up the duffle bag once more and closed the car door.
“I'm Mycah Sokal-Salcedo,” Mycah introduced as he held a hand out to Dylan for him to shake.
Dylan shook Mycah's hand while still keeping ahold of Greyson.
“Sage Bishop,” Sage then responded.
Dylan then looked over to Leslie who was holding Tomi in her arms once more. “What about you?”
“Eliesavetta Kovacheva,” the female witch responded.
“And little man?” Dylan's gaze shifted to Leslie's son.
“Tomi,” she said.
“Well, I'm Dylan Thao,” the demon introduced as the group headed into the hospital. “And this little baby is Greyson…” He exhaled. “My friend who got hurt… Kara… This is her son.”
“She's got a kid?” Mycah asked before giving a glance to Leslie.
Dylan nodded. “Mhm.”
The group made their way to the reception desk.
Dylan decided to speak for the group. “Hi… Um. My friend just got here via ambulance… She hit her head against the edge of the rink at the Royaume de Glace. I was wondering what room she was in.”
“Okay,” the receptionist began looking to the computer in front of him. “What's her name?”
“Kara Satuman,” Dylan said, mindlessly. He exhaled, knowing they wouldn't have that name on file. “Er… um…” He swallowed. “Kyllian Lieux.”
“Alright,” the receptionist began, dancing his fingers across the keys on the keyboard. He quietly clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth a few times as his eyes were locked upon the screen in front of him. “Kyllian… Lieux…” He whispered to himself.
Finally, the receptionist looked up from the computer and back over to Dylan, Greyson, Tomi, Leslie, Mycah, and Sage. “He’s in 310.”
Leslie bit her lip at the casual misgendering of Kara.
“Alright. Thanks,” Dylan said adjusting the back straps on his arm—-he headed down the hallway.
Leslie exchanged a glance with Mycah and Sage before deciding to follow Dylan.
