Once Aubrie had left with Ignat, Kara looked down to the ground. “I know none of that changed what she did… but… I don't know why she didn't tell me before… What happened with her father… The kiroiyaka…”
“I know,” Leslie began to respond to Kara's words. “All we can hope is that she's getting help for it now.”
“Yeah…” Kara breathed, quietly. “I hope so.”
“Thanks for intervening with Ignat,” Leslie then said to Kara, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. “I was afraid he'd never let go of me.”
“I couldn't just do nothing,” Kara replied, starting to look up from the ground. “He's a bastard… The worst kind. He deserves to rot for what he did to you.”
Leslie leaned against Kara, her grip shifting down from Kara's shoulder to her upper arm, and whispered, “I'm lucky to have you.”
“I'm lucky to have you too,” Kara whispered back to Leslie.
Sage, Nashoba, Mycah, and Dylan made their way back into the room, leading Tiyuk, Tomi, Nicolas, and Greyson.
“Did Aubrie tell you about what our father did?” Dylan then asked Kara as he approached her.
Kara nodded. “She did.” She paused for a moment before asking her best friend, “Did he ever do anything to you?”
“A few times,” Dylan replied. “I remember that he got angry when I came out… When I wanted to transition. Though, I can't say that I know if he did anything to Delta.” He exhaled, slowly. “But, it's in the past… He's long gone. …and both Aubrie and I are trying to heal.”
“Well,” Kara began, still shocked that she didn't know any of this sooner. “You can always talk to me if you need to. Any time. Anywhere. I'll listen.”
Dylan smiled a little. “Thanks.” Then, he looked down to the ground, falling silent again.
“So… the Iris Haynes sent two people that are tied to yours and Kara's trauma to make you two break up?” Sage then asked, looking in Leslie's direction.
“Supposedly,” Leslie began to answer. “But… I think there's more to it than that.”
“But the question is: what?” Mycah then added on.
“We'll have to figure that out,” Nashoba said. “If I know anything about her from my past experiences due to Yakni, it's that she's up to something. …Always scheming.” He paused before adding, “...always looking for a ‘’business deal'.”
“You think she's working with someone?” Mycah asked the young Native American man upon hearing his final comment.
Nashoba nodded. “Of course. I mean.. She seems pretty coordinated with her plans… And the fact she was able to get two demons to work for her?”
Kara added in, “Technically, if Aubrie wasn't lying, Aubrie would've betrayed Iris just a bit ago… But, yeah. I understand exactly where you're coming from.”
“So… We need to find out who she's working with?” Dylan asked.
Kara nodded. “Seems like that would be our next step.”
“Good,” Sage replied, quickly. “I wanna put an end to whatever bullshit she's got hidden up her sleeve. Soon too.”
Leslie had once again muted everything around her. Her gaze was fixated on the various cracks and markings in the stone ground as the nauseated feeling of hers from earlier continued to eat away at her. Dammit! Why couldn't this have just stopped earlier? I mean, it did fade somewhat when Aubrie and Ignat were here. But, I suppose that was because I was preoccupied by everything going on. Unfortunately, now, I can't even focus on whatever the hell Iris is planning…. All because of this stupid sickness. The young witch slowly sighed.
“Leslie?” Mycah's voice called out while Leslie remained still deep in her illness-induced daze. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah… Are you feeling alright?” Sage asked her as well. “You've seemed off all day.”
Leslie tried to look up despite feeling severely ill. “I-” She cut herself off right when she covered her mouth with her hand, running off to the restroom.
Kara exchanged a glance with Sage and Mycah before turning and worriedly looking off in the direction that Leslie had gone. “Leslie?” She then called out, sounding a bit panicked. Kara ran off before Sage and Mycah followed as well.
When Kara, Sage, and Mycah reached the restroom, the door was shut.
Sickening noises echoed from inside making Sage and Mycah exchange a look with each other.
“Leslie?” Kara called, lightly knocking upon the old door.
And when Kara got no verbal, comprehensible response from her girlfriend, she knocked more frantically. “Leslie? Leslie? Are you okay in there?”
“N-No,” Leslie responded. She coughed a few times, her voice muffled by the door.
“Let me in then!” Kara began, sounding alarmed by her response. “You need help… I can help you… But, I can't do that if you won't let me in.”
“Just… let me do this myself,” Leslie replied before coughing and retching more.
Kara continued to stare at the closed door, terrified for her girlfriend's well-being.
“Anyone else getting some major deja vu from a few years ago?” Mycah asked in a quiet voice.
Sage nodded in response and whispered back, “Absolutely.”
Kara started to bite her lip once more, waiting for Leslie to come back out. Come on… Come on… Please, please let her be okay. I really don't want her suffering because of some sort of flu. She doesn't deserve that. Especially now with whatever the hell Iris has in store for us. …just let her be okay, the demon thought to herself, frantically.
Finally, the door swung open and Kara continued to watch with nervous eyes.
Leslie looked a little bit pale. Her eyes seemed to water, most likely caused by throwing up just a moment ago.
Kara moved forward just the slight bit, not daring to even say a single word—-she wanted Leslie to be the first to talk.
Leslie looked down to the ground, remaining silent for several moments more. Poor Kara's so worried… I don't blame her. I'd be worried too if I didn't know what was going on. Finally, she looked back up at Kara. Here goes nothing. Leslie took a deep breath before saying, “Kara… I think I'm pregnant.”
